A sharp free kick bounces and Ryan punches it into aMonaco player and it's put in the net. He saw it a little late.
One substitution left for Celtic with Rogic still on the bench.

How does the seeding work for the Champions League now? Assuming Valencia would be the lowest-ranked seed due to qualifying via a play-off?

Sounds like Maty didn't have a very good game

It's really sad some of these past players consistently demonstrate such arrogance, bitterness and jealousy towards the new gen. As a fan, it really does sour some of the great memories they've provided.:(

Hi , I'm a Valencia fan and even though this wasn't his best match it wasn't a bad game either. In fact he's getting good reviews

Edited by tsf: 26/8/2015 07:50:12 AM Im the first to say his performances at the world cup were sub par but he also had almost a another season of development since then. He is blowing my expectations of him clean out of the water. When i first saw him play for central coast, i had him as the next tando veflappy

Edited by tsf: 26/8/2015 07:50:12 AM You're missing the point. There are a lot of ways you can view a situation and unfortunately a lot of former Socceroos aren't leaning to the side of encouragement. When asked an open question, as Foz was this morning, Foz would say things like 'credit to Ryan for securing these chances for himself', 'Ryan did enough to help Valencia through' etc. His first thoughts are positive, encouraging words about a 23-year old goalkeeper. Compare that to Kalac on the SBS World Cup panel actually laughing and saying 'Australia are going to lost to Spain' when asked about our chances. Yes, that might be his tip and all our tips, but IMO there should be a responsibility amongst our former Socceroos to be encouraging of our new generation. IMO criticising someone like Jedinak I would have no problem with as he is an experienced veteran. The young guys having a go should be held in a different light IMO. At the end of the day you could interview a Ronaldo fan about Messi and they'll still find negatives to say. It's that choice people have over their answer that matters. Culina said what now? [-x
At 23, Culina was playing in the farmers village of Doetinchem for a very modest Dutch team knows as De Grafschap. When it comes to naivety, I think Jason should take a long hard look in the mirror and see just how dumb that comment is in the grand scheme of things.

Matt Ryan miss timed when coming out just before that first goal. Clearly not an experienced head but still played reasonably throughout. Culina  I was bored last night I decided to watch a replay of the opening game of the 2014 WC and lol and behold the hosts were Kalac, Zdrilic and Culina. SBS

He did play for Ajax reserves during the late 90s before he moved to FC Twente, decent player. But i'm surprised he said that comment about Ryan...

Not to mention his lack of respect he shows to Monaco, a team that is in an arm wrestle with the best.

Edited by Bowden: 26/8/2015 09:18:58 AM it's a fair point about the need for better encouragement from ex players. unfortunately they are often arrogant jerks who have just had their ego stroked by being given a tv spot to air their perspectives. there are not many good ex player commentators in australia. culina doesnt even make the cut in the ranks of our amateur commentary squad. the guy is dull, benign and arrogant.

If Jedi's injury causes him to miss the qualifiers, who do you guys think is the front runner to get a call up to replace him?
