465,280 have come through the gates across the 26 games so far at an average of 17,895.
Predictions for the rest: Iraq/Iran: 18,000 Japan/UAE: 25,000 Sydney semi: 50,000 Newcastle semi: 23,000 Newcastle 3/4: 20,000 Final: 82,000
That would give us a staggering average of 21,352 across the tournament. Also think we'll get a few more than 25k for Japan tomorrow as well.

There is no way in hell security would have been waving people through the gates without scanning tickets, as is a common claim whenever crowd figures don't meet expectations
And there is no way an accurate crowd figure wouldn't have been reported, or purposely underestimated by part of some elaborate AFL conspiracy
You have to take the official capacity listed with a grain of salt. It's "possible" for 31000 to attend but a run of the mill sell out or near sell out isn't going to be much different to what the derbies have been getting where fans have been saying "There is no way there were 6,000 empty seats!!!1!!"
[/conspiracy] do they count the level 2 boxes as well though? apart from them the stadium looked packed ! Yes they do and there are heaps of them (Far too many imo), which are never filled for football. so frustrating to see i mean if you sold those boxes or seats for example to general public im sure plenty of people would try and snap them up corporate packages for the tournament are sold by the afc rather than by the stadium itself, therefore the stadium's long list of contacts arent provided to the afc and they are sold to the afc's contacts which are mainly non-australians and hence the poor corporate turnouts we've seen so far, even at australian games. Ah fair enough thanks

It would be interesting to see how many tourists have come here for this event and whether it has met expectations.
The crowd support from locals and expatriate communities has been strong, which is great to see.

We're getting good crowds for a lot of "nothing" teams in the eyes of the general public. If it was the World Cup, it would be sellouts across the board. Because a) its the World Cup b) general public is more familiar with the teams and players

I'm not so sure we'll get 25,000, my tickets I bought on Wednesday had a PAX number of 16,000. We'll be lucky with another few thousand for walk up's for game. Hopefully we get 25,000 at least for the sake of atmosphere. Victory>Heart wrote:465,280 have come through the gates across the 26 games so far at an average of 17,895.

It's acctually interesting to note that nearly all of these proposed upgrades have taken place or are under construction. - Adelaide oval has been upgraded - Perth is underway - Geelong has been 3/4 upgraded - Gold Coast will be upgraded for the Commonwealth Games - Townsville has been promised an upgrade by the QLD LNP gov. Seems like we got the World Cup legacy without having to give FIFA all the money.

Or rather, the AFL and NRL get the same legacy benefits on the taxpayer's dime, without being blown away by a World Cup at home, and they still get to stick the boot into football for the money spent on the bid that helped justify those benefits.

Our bid was the worst out of any bidding nation, i wasn't mad when we lost because even if it was a fair process we didn't deserve it with how poverty it was. Wish we had Gallop at the time. If these are what our stadiums would have looked like at the World Cup
