Have you been living under a rock? Exactly what I was thinking. With all the negative shit off field with Brisbane why on earth would you expect their fans to be rushing in to sign up. I'd say if they get half of what they got last season it would be decent. I agree with Adelaide considering the limited capacity at Hindmarsh Stadium I'm actually surprised they have not been forced to cap memberships there especially after the nice attacking football the club was playing in the last season. Overall I think there has been way too much negative headlines all round in this off season and with no big name marque signing for any club I just don't see where the FFA get their figures from of expecting a increase in memberships and a total of 130,000 iirc. It would be extremely childish but it simply looks like they pick a number and just go with it, yet do nothing at all in trying to achieve those numbers.

Here's a bit of an update, slight increase to the last update Davo posted. Also like the previous poster had mentioned, Victory member email stated that we've hit over 21,000 in record time Edited by azzaMVFC: 21/8/2015 09:27:51 AM

Waz wrote:It's pretty evident that Brisbane Roar supporters are holding off on renewals, even so 3,300 isn't bad considering the threat of a winding-up order and the total disbelief in anything first Dobson and now Chris Fong say. How much Roars numbers accelerate after Fong goes depends on whether the club goes in to FFA hands (which would suggest a season of stagnation) or a sale to a new owner. Even a new owner may not be enough to accelerate membership, if the infamous pizza boys get their hands back on the Roar again many may conclude we're stuck in "Groundhog Day" and wait and see. Fair to say a decent owner with vision should see Roar exceed 10,000 members sspdvislly when the 4 and 7 game packs go on sale which are very popular. Overall for the HAL it's hard to predict, about 20,000 of last seasons memberships were sold after the seasons start so if ghd patterns repeated they'll need to crack 100k in members before day 1 if they're to reach the target. I don't think we'll see this happen. Tbh i doubt we'll even hit last years figure. We are too far behind the count. Only way we could see any major spike would be if the Roar were taken over and the new owners made a big statement by bringing in a high profile player as well as City doing the same. However this all looks very unlikely to be honest.

If someone wants to opt out they can do so even if they aren't prompted they will pull the plug if they feel that strongly about it. However I believe most customers are lazy and if they are leaning on the fence, they will most likely stick with it and allow it to auto renew without having to really do anything other than a click of a button. Without auto renewal most fence sitters might not be bothered altogether to fill out the form/contact membership etc because of the hassle. I believe there are more of these types of people that will continue on than the one's that have had. So although i agree that optin is better than opt out, either way both are much better than not having the auto renewal option. We live in a lazy society.

Have you been living under a rock? Agree. Brisbane is exactly where I assumed they would be. I imagine there are a bunch of people waiting to see what happens re ownership, but no doubt either way I highly doubt they will even hit 80% of what they reached last season even with ownership change. Will take a couple of seasons to fix up the damage unfortunately. A shame because the Roar were really starting to hit their stride off the field. Attendances last season were relatively poor though. I think the level of expectation is high now, so anything under 2nd or 3rd results in a significant drop in support.

Don't want to be negative here but would like the breakdown of members who are full season memberships.
Not 2 game, 3 game or half season member tickets.
That will give a near clear indication of your core supporter base.

Yeah im really surprised (in a positive way) how both Perth and Newcastle are tracking better or round about the same as this time last year. Not shocked by Brisbane and Melb City. But certainly shocked by Adelaide. They had a very solid season last year playing some of the best football. Crowds were pretty solid too. Surprised that they are lagging. Was expecting a true jump this year of 10-20%.

Recent numbers probably based on perceived quality visa signings and FFA Cup win.

So pleased to see Perth selling so well. I can only assume with AUFC that people have simply been quite slack with renewing because the season is still nearly two months away!

^^ Seems they have scaled back their target by 5k, from 130k to 125. 8-[ Well understandable though, given the situation at Roar - they are the 5k variable. Till they have some certainty, post-Bakries, many Roar fans have said they won't get back on-board. People have already discussed that, this thread. Trolling aside, factor that in Killua. ;) The Official A-League Membership Tally - Update released: Tuesday 25 August 2015: Source: http://www.A-League.com.au/membership Edited by GloryPerth: 25/8/2015 10:10:31 PM

Just the unrealistic target (made after Roar issues right?) by the FFA that set themselves up for failure, which only took 3 weeks or so to achieve this time. Indeed and sorry my bad infact - Some MV and Roar fans share alot of bantz about the place and given Roar are one of the big differentials here, I got mixed up  . I still don't know how/why the FFA chose to set 130k, given Roar were already under growing problems and the likes of Glory (Cap scandal) and even City (Absence of Villa hype) seemed set to struggle to push to new highs. I can understand if 'settling' on a 120k target is too meagre, as that's only 5-6k more last season's total and they understandably seek to match the 15%+ growth the league achieved last season. Though granted, perpetual growth is not possible, marketing and PR wise they need that narrative - especially with the looming TV deal re-negotiations! FTR 125k equates to about 15% growth on the member total last season ;) . Gee I hope we can see a bump up, come the dawn of the new season - the league needs it! [-o<

So memberships are currently at 75,531 then. I think that's pretty good considering what's been happening at Newcastle and Brisbane. Only a few years ago we'd only just barely hit that figure. And there's still a month and a half to go before the league starts. :)

So interesting to see how many members Central Coast have. Despite their lack of funds and population, you've got to respect the fans' loyalty.
