For the Record Quote:A-League clubs are on notice to settle all debts to current and former players by the end of the year or face a possible points deduction.
As part of the competition’s new collective bargaining agreement, which was signed off last week, tough new rules around contract security have been introduced to give players greater protection than ever before. Clubs have been given until January 1 to meet all outstanding financial obligations - including unpaid salaries, superannuation, match fees and other bonuses – to players, or new sporting sanctions can be imposed. After January 1 an A-League player will be able to provide his club with written notice alleging non-payment, giving them two days to rectify the situation.
If the player still hasn’t been paid, they can take the issue to an independent arbitrator and if the arbitrator rules in the player’s favour, a transfer embargo will be enforced, prohibiting the club from signing new players. If, seven days later, the player remains unpaid, a suspended points deduction of four points will be triggered, with the points to be taken off clubs after 14 days.
Had the new rules been enforced earlier this year, Brisbane Roar would have entered the new A-League season on -4 points, having at one stage delivered monthly wages to players more than two weeks late. “Contract security was a fundamental component of the CBA negotiations for the players,” Professional Footballers Australian chief executive Adam Vivian said. “Over the course of the two previous seasons approximately $1.5 million was outstanding to players and this needed to be addressed.”
“The players were extremely determined to address this and through the CBA negotiations we have made great headway. The agreement reached between FFA and PFA gives players far greater certainty in relation to receiving their entitlements and goes a long way to ensuring their contracts are respected.”
Several A-League clubs are understood to owe money to players, with some notorious for their non-payment of entitlements such as superannuation. Fringe Socceroo Luke Brattan was able to leave Brisbane Roar because his superannuation wasn’t up to date, paving the way for his recent signing to Manchester City. However, the Roar has since vowed to settle all of the club’s debts, to players, staff and local businesses, by January.

New CBA rules apply to all player payments owing, I can't see ex-players caring whether the club gets points sanctioned Quote:...........................It’s a familiar refrain among her teammates. Larissa Crummer, who joined the Matildas earlier this year as a 19-year-old, had to abandon her job as a plumber’s apprentice to meet the training demands. She survives financially only because she recently moved from Queensland to Victoria to play with Melbourne City, which provides her with rent-free accommodation. Her flatmate is Laura Alleway, another Matilda recently recruited to Melbourne City from Queensland. Alleway has attempted to hold down part-time jobs — swimming coach, shop-assistant, cafe worker — but was forced to give up each one; now 24, she is studying to be a teacher as a back-up career, but it’s taken her eight years to get part-way through a four-year course. In Queensland she played for Brisbane Roar while living rent-free in an apartment owned by her parents in Noosa, but the $200 a week she got from Roar didn’t cover the cost of driving to Brisbane four nights a week for training. Like all the Matildas she pays for her own top-level health insurance, which FFA insists is mandatory, but she says the Roar still owes her $2000 in unreimbursed gap payments ......................... http://www.theaustralian.com.au/life/weekend-australian-magazine/matildas-laura-alleway-and-lydia-williams-take-on-the-ffas-david-gallop/story-e6frg8h6-1227580357940?sv=c41c35893e5f1702d5f5cd74df17df34

The men are getting whipped by Stefan Nigro and Bruce Djite and the women just choked in the W-League semi final.
For the first time, but certainly not the last, I began to believe that Arsenals moods and fortunes somehow reflected my own. - Hornby

Meanwhile, mediation has failed to resolve the dispute between the Roar and short-time club employees Marco Kueck and George Papadopolous. Kueck and Papadopolous, who were employed by the club’s former managing director Daniel Cobb before being told their services were no longer required after Cobb was sacked, are seeking money from the Roar. Cobb was also at the mediation as a third party. The matter now seems destined to end up back in court.

You know there's been improvements when this thread only gets two comments in a year lol
Interesting why Cobb was at this mediation - if it's between Roar and two former employees why is Cobb involved?

December 20, 2016 In Brisbane Roar MY TIME AT THE BRISBANE ROAR6/2016 – 9/2016 Brisbane Roar Football Club Pty Ltd Position: Managing Director Background: I led a bid to buy Brisbane Roar FC which required taking over full management control of the Club during the approval process from the Football Federation Australia. I resigned on 15 August, 2016 due to owners breaching the conditions of the Sale terms (failure to provide agreed funding during the transition period) DUTIES / ACHIEVEMENTS:- Completed Gap Analysis and Stakeholder Engagement sessions and reports
- Restructured the Club. Involved putting in place new organisational charts with new reporting lines and delegated authorities.
- Identified and put in place recruitment for 12 new roles across the Club.
- Put in place a short term vision statement, values statement and strategic plan
- Completed the 2017-18 Marketing plan
- Launched the 2017-2018 Membership drive
- Negotiated with creditors of the Club (including the ATO)
- Engaged with the Football Federation Australia to address and overcome a number of breaches by the Club of the Clubs Participation agreement for participation in the Hyundai A League
- Completed the requirements needed to register the Club into the Asian Champions League.
- Resolved a number of disputes between the Club and FIFA, PFA, players and their representatives
MEDIA COVERAGE:A Major problem at Brisbane Roar FC over many years has been the constant leaks to the Media and the use of the Media by individuals within the Club for their own agenda’s. In the best interests of the Club I have kept most of the Brisbane Roar “Dirty Laundry” out of the Media. Due to a number of bad, factually incorrect and potentially defamatory articles in the media I have been suggested people view the following articles for a more balanced level of reporting of my time at The Roar. http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/article/2016/06/09/could-brisbane-roar-managing-director-daniel-cobb-be-clubs-white-knight http://www.theroar.com.au/2016/08/17/brisbane-showdown-on-cards-in-a-league/comment-page-3/ http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/football/a-league/83290684/brisbane-roar-managing-director-daniel-cobb-quits-as-roar-aleague-crisis-widens

Marco Monteverde, The Courier-Mail A SHATTERED Mark Kingsman is considering legal action against Brisbane Roar after being sacked as club’s managing director. Just 14 months after being appointed by club owners, Indonesian conglomerate the Bakrie Group, Kingsman was axed late Monday by Roar chairman Rahim Soekasah. The move totally blindsided Kingsman. He we asked on Sunday night to meet with Soekasah at the club’s Ballymore offices, but had no idea that his job was on the line. Kingsman told The Courier-Mail that he was given the option to quit, but refused. “There was no chance I was going to say that I was resigning,” Kingsman said. “I’ve always been honest about everything that’s happened at this club since I’ve been here.” MIA: Did Reds silence Roar crowd? In a prepared statement, the Roar said the decision was “part of the Bakrie Group’s restructuring plan for the club and is a decision that has not been taken lightly”. “As we continue to grow, our club needs greater governance and oversight with a deeper connection with our members, the business sector and the greater community in general,” Soekasah said. “I want to see Brisbane Roar become the largest club in Australia and we can only do this by truly engaging people. “I’m excited about our club’s future and the contributions our initial advisory board will bring to the club.” Until a replacement for Kingsman is appointed, Soekasah will help manage the club and implement an advisory board. Ironically, Kingsman, also CEO of East Coast Car Rentals, was on a Roar advisory board before succeeding Daniel Cobb as managing director in August last year. In was in yesterday’s edition of The Courier-Mail that Kingsman said $1.4 million of the club’s considerable debt had been wiped away during his 14 months. Ange won't be replaced ... yet However, Kingsman said he was told in his meeting with Soekasah that he had not been fully transparent with the club’s financial status. Kingsman said that was not true, and after the meeting sought legal advice, saying he was still owed money by the club. But it will be with a heavy heart if he does sue the Roar, “I was part of this club to help build it not destroy it,” said Kingsman, who claims to have covered $300,000 in wages owed for September. “I had to guarantee that money.” Kingsman also claimed he was told by Soekasah that he publicly criticised the Bakrie Group. “I have never done that. I have always backed the Bakries.” The Roar have started the season poorly, losing their first two matches ahead of Sunday’s home clash against Newcastle Jets. In better news for the club, it’s understood French winger Eric Bautheac’s visa has finally been approved, meaning he should arrive in Brisbane this week. Why would you want to go to this club as an administrator. You have people like Kingsman doing a reasonable job and then getting shafted. It's absolutely Toxic.
