I'm watching a friendly between Czech Republic and Denmark at Mladá Boleslav's home ground. It has about 5k seats and is built up around 3 sides of the ground. It's almost perfect except the goal end with a grand stand is elevated above the level of the pitch a couple of metres. This sort of ground with perhaps 8k capacity would be perfect for Wellington, Central Coast or a new entrant like Brisbane Strikers.

http://www.erlebnis-stadion.de/?ground=199

Our league would be on a  rock solid foundation if a forward thinking FFA made the hard choices now instead of living like rockstars. If a minnow league from a poor country where football is behind hockey and daylight can have a viable professional league then Australia should too.

Speaking of stadiums, if anyone needs a new 30k stadium it should be exactly designed the same as the Amex ( American Express Community Stadium ) in Brighton. That stadium was the best stadium I went to in the UK on my recent trip. Outdid any of the EPL stadiums I went to ( Man Utd, Man City, Stoke, Burnley, Southampton ) or any other I went to.

as for the Strikers, I quite liked this design for them

*Just a quick note about any sponsors I put on kits. If they are an already existing team I will put a current or past sponsor on their kit. If they are yet to be created club I usually just google local businesses in their area and pick one that would be a good fit in my eyes.
**Except Strikers because they don't appear to have sponsors on their kits so I went with Coffee Club who seem to enjoy sponsoring Queensland football clubs.

Sorry I dont have a subscription to open the article.   But at long last Melbournes second city , outer South  Eastern suburbs, to bid for licence.  THIS IS THE WAY TO GO
FOR MELBOURNES THIRD LICENCE!!!! I hope this bid wins Melbournes third A  League licence. This is the area FFA should be targeting. Melbournes growth corridor.

Casey-Dandenong soccer clubs ready to unite behind local push for an A-League license

THE six biggest soccer clubs in the Casey-Dandenong region say they would unite behind a local push for an A-League license.

The Casey and Greater Dandenong councils also endorse a south-east A-League bid and both have already identified appropriate locations - Casey Fields and Dandenong Showgrounds.

WHERE SHOULD VICTORIA’S THIRD A-LEAGUE CLUB BE BASED? VOTE IN OUR POLL AND HAVE YOUR SAY IN THE COMMENTS BELOW

Former Springvale City and Socceroos star Vince Grella headlines an impressive south-east production line that includes current players Scott McDonald, Eugene Galekovic, Curtis Good and Jackson Irvine.

With a rapidly growing population that already numbers 1.2 million, the south-east is a perfect home for a professional club according to locals.

EXPANSION: WHERE WILL NEXT A-LEAGUE CLUB COME FROM?

NATIONAL DEPTH: NEXT PLAYERS UNDER ROOS’ MICROSCOPE

Each of Dandenong City, Dandenong Thunder, Springvale White Eagles, South Springvale, Berwick City and Casey Comets ardently support an A-League team being placed on their doorstep.

“I’ve spoken to a clot of people in the community and there’s a real hunger for soccer. It’s taking off in the south-east and there’s no AFL here,” Greater Dandenong mayor Jim Memeti said.

Vince Grella in action against Paraguay.
Scott McDonald in action against Qatar.

“We’ve got the right spot for it - the Showgrounds, which is only 500 metres from Dandenong Station. It’s a big parcel of land, 40 acres, perfect for a boutique stadium.

“Dandenong is the most multicultural council in Victoria and they would back an A-League club.”

Casey is the eighth-fastest growing municipality in Australia with a population of approximately 290,000 that is projected to grow to 459,000 by 2036.

Dandenong has roughly 155,000 residents and will push 200,000 in 15 years.

This year there were 2370 registered players in Casey - only Monash and Boroondara had more in Victoria - while Greater Dandenong had 1946.

“If a super club was formed representing the entire region, it would be a raging success,” Dandenong City president Tony Dorotic said.

South Springvale vice president Omi Emmanouilidis said such a team could match Melbourne City’s crowds straight away.

Casey Comets president Dawn Stone said the club would also attract fans from areas like Monash, Frankston, the Mornington Peninsula and Gippsland.

Dandenong Thunder and South Melbourne clash.

A-League expansion is a hot topic, with at least two new teams to be added soon.

South Melbourne has formalised a bid, Geelong is in the mix, but Berwick City president Joe Di Iorio said the south-east is another Western Sydney Wanderers in waiting.

Thunder president Ferman Zekirija said a bid from the region “should have happened a long time ago”, while White Eagles vice-president Milos Sekulovski said a club in the south-east would be a valuable addition to the country’s youth development stocks.

Casey Mayor Sam Aziz said Casey Fields would be a perfect training base for an A-League club.

This is the best bid I have seen very similar to WSW ... this looks a real goer ... so does South Melbourne ... very difficult choice glad I don't have to make it.

In my opinion a team from South East Melbourne works.
Just some numbers in terms of LGA's and their population.

Shire of Mornington Peninsula: 144,685
City of Frankston: 135,243
City of Casey: 292,211
City of Greater Dandenong: 146,000
Shire of Cardinia: 74,176
City of Knox:149,340
City of Monash: 187,286
City of Kingston: 147,214
City of Glen Eira: 131,013

Combined Population = 1,407,168

Absolutely, would be a huge waste to just leave the unselected bids to disappear after all their work, but that's been the exact MO of the FFA thus far.

I used to put Ford on there before they bailed on their manufacturing base in the city, however last year they renewed their deal with the Cats through to 2020, and in fact they're looking to get their 95 year running relationship certified as a world record, quite a strong commitment to say the least, so perhaps they'll be keen to back an A-League bid. Maybe they already are.

I do believe there is still an engineering/design office open in Geelong, so perhaps that is enough of a footprint for Ford to potentially sponsor a A-League side.

Casey would have to play out of either AAMI park or lakeside until they build something there, IMO they wouldnt be ready until the next phase of expansion as playing in the city would defeat the purpose of the thing,

Been harping on about this for ages.. If a third Melbourne based team is to happen it has to be out of there.

So many bids though.. Really hope the FFA are looking at all the unsuccessful bids for a second division to begin with..

Then the next round of expansion to 14 teams, two teams selected from the second division based on the expansion framework that FFA is set to put out there early next year.

Tasmania and Brisbane Strikers - A-league entry 2018-19.

A2 starting 2018-19-
South Melbourne
Dandenong
Geelong
Canberra United
Wollongong Wolves
Northern Fury
Sutherland Sharks
West Adelaide or Adelaide City

Could add Perth2 and another QLD side (FNQ Heat? Redlands? Palm Beach?) but would make costs exorbitant.
Looking good!

Its not a matter of going in then out

Casey would have to play out of either AAMI park or lakeside until they build something there, IMO they wouldnt be ready until the next phase of expansion as playing in the city would defeat the purpose of the thing,

The FFA need to plan this out in my opinion if they're going to do this properly. They need to be realistic and work out their short and long term goals re expansion. There is no point bringing in teams just for the sake of adding more teams.
If the Dandenong region is a higher priority than another inner City team(South) or Geelong, whether it be now or in the future, than state it and work towards it. Don't just rule them out now because of no stadium but bring in Geelong for the sake of another Victorian team who struggle from day dot then admitting later on they stuffed up.

Plan out their expansion by being realistic with themselves and the bidders. Work out a list of clubs going to be ready for the first round of expansion(next year or the year after) then put them up against the bids that will be ready say 2 years later and weigh up which one will be a better option. Bring Geelong in now which could be hit or miss or wait 2/3 years for Dandenong to build facilities/stadia, build the anticipation amongst locals, etc.. Which one is going to benefit the HAL more?

Tasmania similarly but different, have stadia but needs $$/work put into it(which is better than nothing) and the local supports obviously there but if the FFA say "sorry not this time, better luck in 2 years" the support will still be there but will the people willing the put the money into be? (I know I'm biased on this one but the FFA may never get a chance like this again with Tassie)
Brisbane Strikers the same as Tassie.

No one from South/South West Sydney putting their hand up yet and not interested in Wollongong either then put the feelers out saying we want a 3rd team from Sydney in the second round of expansion 3 years time, instead of trying to rush something in again for the sake of another derby.

Same will go for teams 15 and 16 if the FFA want to go that way.

If for example the FFA choose Brisbane as team 11 but then South edges out Tassie for the 12th spot but the FFA still really want the Tassie bid then communicate a timeframe with Tassie bid so they don't lose them altogether.
Then everyone knows where they stand from day dot, people/clubs alike arent being put through the ringer, pouring money into a false hope and the FFA can work with the unsuccessful clubs in working towards a second division.

My wants for expansion are:

11. Brisbane Strikers
12. Tasmania/South(if they're preferred over Dandenong)
13. Sutherland/Macarthur
14. Tasmania/Dandenong(if they're preferred over South)
15. Perth 2
16. Canberra/Adelaide 2

Thankyou!!

I really do aswell! Really didn't feel the need to change it all but wheres the fun in that. My only SLIGHT criticism of the current Wolves logo is the wolves head.
I almost just put the Wolves head in my crest onto the current Wolves shield.

Based on what we know south melbourne and tasmania appear to currently be the strongest bids.
