While there's a fair bit of banter between fans and quite a bit of pleasure taken by opposing fans the reality is there's only Victory that can be happy with their attendances.

But you raise some good points (forget the weather as you can't control that) but things like scheduling can be controlled - too often we see sides play away for 2 or theee weeks and then follow up with back to back home games. How hard can it be to plan a simple HAHAHA schedule?

And the bigger drawing clubs should be favoured with with Saturday draws. The Nix would have hit 5,500 on Friday night but Sydney would have put 2k on by playing Saturday even if the weather was the same.

The ffa need to smarten up. Crowds are stagnating and their scheduling is not helping imo

While the Sydney crowd was embarrassing given our results and style of play this season, what were you all expecting?

Friday night games have never resulted in big crowds for us. Have you ever tried driving in Sydney during peak hour on a Friday evening?

Heavy rain on various occasions throughout the day with an initial forecast for storms in the night. Have you ever sat in the SFS in the rain? Most of the seats aren't covered by the roof. Families see that forecast and make an early call to stay in and watch in on TV.

Around 30,000 Sydney fans attended last Saturday. Another home game 6 days later is always going to tank, as illustrated by Davo in a number of games in various cities throughout the season. There is usually a hang over in crowd numbers after each derby in particular.

Overall, it is a shame that more people have not been in attendance to experience what we have achieved so far this season. But, in perspective, excluding derbies:
Sydney FC average crowd = 14,858
Wanderers average crowd = 13,217
Excluding Victory whose average has only been in competition with itself since about Season 2, the only team that should be talking shit about Sydney's crowds is Brisbane. Excellent average of 15,705. You get 2,500 more at every game than the mighty WSW whose "support" the media always seems to crow about.

Now lets face it 11200 when you are on a invincible run is dreadful.

Also leaving out Derbys because it does not suit you is week as piss.

MVFC 21,843
Draw kings WSW 20,166
INVINCIBLES  18,015

Wanderers also have another home derby which will put us at record crowds for our clubs short history, heck we might even take victory this year which would be a first i think.

Its funny you smurphs all a sudden in 2016-17 are leaving out derbys when making crowd comparisons, when previous 3 years will include them like your life depended on it.

The first year WSW are not capped by stadium capacity and you can see the results. We got 1 more derby to come, you going to show up or is cyclonic conditions/monsoon going to stop you this time? haha

Victory have had the highest crowds each season since their inception except for 2005/06, the first year of the A-League, yep.

It'll be interesting to see who comes out ahead with WSW hosting two derbies at Homebush, we still have a derby and a big blue at Docklands left though so hopefully we'll keep ahead of you guys.

I'm confident that Victory would keep the record not including derbies for all four Melbourne and Sydney clubs for some time, however.

I hate community rounds. I wasn't going to watch us play out of Campbelltown stadium and even worse having to pay for it as its not part of our membership package.

Yeah ur right wsw with not having to be capped at parra are getting massive crowds now of wait for it 9k....

And today was a shockingly good weather day. Everyone prefers to go dyring the pouring rain on a friday night right? Oh thats right they did about 2k more did it on friday despite the derby home game the week before.

Wsw its true is on  a bad run, but their fans always pride themselves as not being fairweather supporters yet if anything they are no different to sydney. Leas than half the members rocked up to their game today. Perhaps they should start allowing pets in so that the majority of their members can actually go and watch the games...

RIP Cameraman. Heroically died in the sydney cyclone trying to defend FC's integrity. Sadly, he died in vein.

Now show us snap 45 mins to 2 hours before the game when people are making a decision about the game.

Unlike what u might think most people make plans at least more than 5 mins out from the kick off of a match.

So yes.great shot of the sky more tha  10 mins into the game...

Do you actually believe the shit you say, or is it tongue in cheek? You still can't pull a decent crowd even when you are not capped by stadium capacity. The derby crowd had little to do with you suddenly having stadium capacity, the 7 or 8 games which followed it are the true indicator, and the results are poor. You never really even had capacity issues at Parra pulling 11-14k crowds every week. And I've never had a problem with derbies being excluded from the attendance count comparisons because we have had a higher non-derby average attendance than you every year except one, our shit sandwich of a year last year where you finished 2nd/2nd.

We do realize that Pirtek is being rebuilt and we are playing at an oval in Homebush right?

Capacity issues arise when you cannot sell any more tickets to the game. Has nothing to do with 14k being at the game.

Now 19k members, imagine having 1k tickets available to the general public all year round in a 20k Pirtek stadium?

Not sure that's true.  That's really just the impression because they are the biggest.

MV was the only Team in the whole state for the first 5 years, still only 2 in Victoria.
The City of Melbourne, with it's 'sports mad' population of over 4 million.

If you're going to dick-measure, Per Capita should be the test of attendance surely ?

No. Per capita is a shit argument.

So just because Welly get 7k every week, that should be OK because they have a smaller population? No. It's a straw man argument. They keep getting these crowds and they'll be gone.

What's WP got to do with whether MV should be happy with their attendances after 12 years in by far the biggest franchise zone?

So if my suburb of 2000 peiople has 50 people show up to watch Sunday park football, you are telling me that my lil local club is doing better than A-league clubs? Because you know per capita and all? It's a flawed measurement.

As cities get larger and larger, there will ALWAYS be a drop off. You would never be able to sustain the per capita rate. The Chinese Super league have managed to grow their crowds from 13,400 back in 2008 to 24,100 in 2016. Now if you were to do it per capita, the whole of the csl would be below Wellington Phoenix. Now are you going to tell me that Guanghzou Evergrande (who avg 45k) is doing worse than Wellington Phoenix just because per capita more go to a wellington game? Yeah ok sure... Wellington are doing a much better job at embracing the community then..

OK , if you don't like per capita, how do you tell if MV has actually done well ?

It was given the best zone, with the biggest market and a free run.  Sounds like MV have only done as well as an average CSL team.

Are MV really being applauded for an average job ?

Roar advertising the 3 games for $50 which is cheaper than buying the 2 HAL games separately, so attendances may surprise on the up. Given this weekend is WSW our love/hate child and good time would expect very good crowd.

42,500 for the Big Blue really?? Where is that coming from?

Ian Robson on radio this morning said he washoping for it to hit 40k, which tells me the figure will be closer to 33 - 35k. But if they crack 42k would be massive, especially considering the Melb Derby is next home game after.

Im just going to get in early for all those people thinking the Big Blue will crack 40k which I strongly doubt, but in the event the turnout is even lower than general expectations ie less than 33k, the 2 primary excuses will be:

1) But but it was played on an oval hence kept people away (not likely in this event but will be used as an excuse no doubt)

2) 8pm kick off kept kids away, Fuck you Foxtel and FFA bla bla bla...  (plausible excuse to a degree).
