Club statement on Millsy:
(in short to set a'flutter hearts at ease: #notgone)
Melbourne Victory wishes to advise that midfielder Mark Milligan will remain with the club until at least the end of the 2017/18 Hyundai A-League season. Despite recent reports linking the 32-year-old with a move to Saudi Arabia, Head Coach Kevin Muscat said the club's position is that Milligan is not for sale. "There's always going to be interest in a player of Mark's calibre, but Mark is a contracted Melbourne Victory player, and, more importantly, a required one," said Muscat. "Significant planning, time and effort went into building our squad for this season and Mark's signing was an integral part of that, so the club is not prepared to entertain offers for his services." "A formal offer was lodged and subsequently rejected - that's as far as it went," added Muscat. Milligan is available for Friday's Australia Day clash with Sydney FC at AAMI Park.

Bali United lost in ET to Chiangrai 1-2. They now play Shanghai. They probably would stand no chance in China but its saved that conversation with the misses trying to convince her you want to go to Bali in 4 weeks time when that fixture was meant to be.

Either we have a trip to Thailand or only one team in Shanghai again. Can't lose.

We should look at getting shröcky from ceres. Guy is pure class. Been following him for a while now and only reason why he is at ceres is due to the fact he felt wanted there. He isnt on huge money either

We beat them at home in 2016 with Conca, Elkeson, Asmoah Gyan and Sven Goran Eriksson coaching, so I wouldn't rule us out. Looking at soccerway, all of their Chinese players who started today (including the goalscorer) were also at their loss to Victory, for what that's worth. In saying that, you can't ignore the signing of Hulk and Oscar.

Horses for Scorchers: Daryl Braithwaite gives Perth cricket fans a lift for BBL final Perth Scorchers fans may have a new song to inspire their players. Perth Scorchers fans may have a new song to inspire their players. Photo: Matt Bedford They will not ride into Perth Stadium on horses but WA's record-breaking BBL team will be lifted up when they enter the arena for Thursday's historic BBL semi-final clash. Aussie singer Daryl Braithwaite has given the WACA permission to play his hugely-popular 1990 smash hit Horses while Perth Scorchers players enter the ground for the match at the new venue. The Fremantle Dockers famously play AC/DC's T.N.T. after a victory at home, Port Adelaide have used INXS's classic Never Tear Us Apart before bouncedown at Adelaide Oval to great effect in recent years, while the Sydney Swans play the Neil Diamond classic Sweet Caroline at quarter time of their home engagements. WAtoday conjured up several alternatives to be the official crowd song for Perth Scorchers matches. There was Billy Idol's Hot in the City, Glenn Frey's The Heat is On, Bruce Springsteen's classic I'm on Fire and Billy Joel's We Didn't Start the Fire. Unfortunately there was not much love for The Wiggles' classic Hot Potato, Hot Potato, despite the BBL attracting a swarm of young cricket fans to its crash-and-bash style of cricket. WACA chief Christina Matthews told WAtoday she would entertain the idea of using Braithwaite's classic for the semi-final (and final if the Scorchers make it) but would need to look into the logistics of making it happen. http://www.watoday.com.au/sport/wa-sport/horses-for-scorchers-daryl-braithwaite-gives-perth-cricket-fans-a-lift-for-bbl-final-20180131-h0re7v.htmlClear air.

I'm really sick of the arrogance coming out of the club. Apparently we're so good we can go into a season without a recognised left back, and now with Milligan gone we've got no plans to replace him?

+xI'm really sick of the arrogance coming out of the club. Apparently we're so good we can go into a season without a recognised left back, and now with Milligan gone we've got no plans to replace him? Did you see di pietros speach at victory in business? Where he mentions milligan leaving again goes on a rant about loyalty straight after. Quite interesting. I think antonis is good enough to replace him although different styles. This season is just fucked ive said it before and ill say it again, the parallels between this season and the durakovic/magilton are uncanny, the constant suspensions, red cards, injuries, it looks like kev has deliberately taught one half of the squad one game plan and the other half another. The only thing that contradicts that is the fact kev only has one game plan. I know we won't see him get sacked but i hope to god kev decides to move on to "further his career" somewhere in Europe at the end of the season.

Can go on about loyalty as much as he likes, nobody forces the club to sign Milligan again, and that other knob troisi who will go shopping around again at seasons end. Why would you bother with these guys to begin with.

+xI'm really sick of the arrogance coming out of the club. Apparently we're so good we can go into a season without a recognised left back, and now with Milligan gone we've got no plans to replace him? Last season we spent the bulk of the cap on the top 5-6 players. Because we made the GF and lost it on pens, the club probably thought the philosophy worked and did the same this year. But they conveniently forgot that we still finished miles behind Sydney in the league. This year we have copped a few more injuries and suspensions which has badly exposed our depth and the all-round imbalance of our squad. You mentioned how we have no recognised LB, but we only have one recognised FB in our entire squad. We also only have 4 visa players and an over-abundance of midfielders, none of which provide that real creative outlet. This has left Berisha completely isolated and short on confidence. Next season, we will have to completely strip back our squad and start afresh. Release the majority of players out of contract (Valeri, Austin, Ingham, etc). re-sign George, Donachie and the youth coming through. Tell Troisi he is free to explore other opportunities. Thank Broxy for his services and offer him a job away from the pitch. Bring in 2 players for every position, a full allotment of visa players and get the chequebook out and sign a decent marquee playmaker.
