+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xSo that's Williams, Donachie, Bes, Nigro, Geria, Leroy, Theo and Waring all gone? And we've signed Roux, Brown and Holla (did this one actually happen)? Oh and re-signed Brox and Valeri...awesome At least we should have some cap space There is one other that definitely wants out as well but Kevin has knocked it on the head. Defensive player who is definitely not happy. A lot going on behind the scenes at MV all the way down to their academy as well which is said to be second rate to what City is doing. Interesting times Compare the pair - two highly talented youngsters in Pasquali and Arzani. How have City been able to retain Arzani (at least for a short while) whilst we couldn't retain Pasquali? Big difference is that Arzani has a contract whereas Pasquali was unable to be contracted by MV because of his age at the time. I guess what I'm getting at is, how were Melbourne City/ CFG able to convince Arzani to stick it out for a season or two in the A-League and we couldn't do the same with Pasquali? See bold... Okay, so how do we gain ground on that advantage? Do the club need to build more partnerships with overseas clubs to create a more viable 'network' for young Aussies to tap in to? Do we need to offer more cash under the cap for these youngsters? How do we stop being the 'poor cousin' in Melbourne and become an attractive proposition for young Aussies to play for the Vuck over City? I'm not naive to think that the CFG connection isn't a massive influence - my concern is, what is the Vuck doing to close that advantage? Victory hired Paulo Cardoso as their academy director a couple of years ago. I believe he was a scout and former youth coach for Sporting CP and was responsible for ID'ing CR7. Not sure what influence he has had on the academy to date though. Yeah he left a few weeks ago. Some guy from Wales I think was his replacement. It's on the cubs website and was reported at the time but didn't see anyone post it here

The best kids are not running around in the MV academy all the way down to the 15s Can you clarify this comment for me please? Not sure, but MV's Talent ID and recruitment for the academy is really fragmented and relies on feeder sports high schools and the like. I'd imagine player agents get in the ear of MV staff and make sure the players they rep. are placed front-and-centre before them, consequently collecting a tidy 'finders fee' for their role. This contrasts with Melb City who actually hold annual trials for all their potential recruits as well as getting out to NPL U18/19 & senior games to recruit youth players for their academies.

Seen the latest training photos? Embarrassing really. If they weren't wearing MV garb it would look like a couple mates playing kick to kick in the park.

Birkan Kirder the only Victory player named in the U16 training camp that started in Sydney today - in contrast City have six players included in the squad.

MV value the toilet seat pretty highly, much more than youth development and winning the league during the regular season.

There is also talk of a sponsor willing to give victory a decent amount if they appoint a certain coach and the sponsors son is included for one of the younger youth teams. If it happens it will be as obvious as can be. I'll point it out for you when/if it does happen

+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xSo that's Williams, Donachie, Bes, Nigro, Geria, Leroy, Theo and Waring all gone? Absolute zilch. Australian Agents have been making a nice little profit sending kids to the academy. The best kids are not running around in the MV academy all the way down to the 15s I'm skeptical that VIctory would be paying agents for academy players. Victory isn't paying the agents, the parents are $4K is number quoted By whom? I have spoken to a fair few parents of Victory youth players over the years at our youth games and none ever brought something like that up. We're talking 15s 18s and 20s also, not sure about the NPL seniors but definitely happening in those ages. I don't think that would be something parents are sharing with you either. There is also talk of a sponsor willing to give victory a decent amount if they appoint a certain coach and the sponsors son is included for one of the younger youth teams. If it happens it will be as obvious as can be. I'll point it out for you when/if it does happen You sound like a parent whose son got looked over. Sour grapes perhaps?? Also brady Quinn who played as a number 10 is a mates son. Who happened to turn 20 today My son did get looked over, but he is only 5 so its understandable As for Brady who turned 20, well done to him, but unfortunately he'll be looking for an npl2 team next season

Latest? Import? Import? Troisi Kosta Antonis Hope Brown Ansell? Deng Roux Thomas Bench: Athiu, Valeri, Boxham, Ingham, Acton Squad: Sette Kirdar ?, ?, ?, ?, ? Is that the latest? The 2 (or 3) imports need to be spot on.
Full trophy cabinet (but yours looks a bit empty) ! Reigning BACK2BACK 442 A League and World Cup (Mens and Womens) Tipping Champion - so yeap, I do know best !

The 2 (or 3) imports need to be spot on. Well there are reports that vasco da gama are in for honda now. I can't remember but does honda prefer the middle or out wide? Troisi played wide the first time he came to victory, that could be an option. I would love to see Kenny as our no. 1 striker and have an import central defender unless we are chasing a striker that well known but can do the job. if ansell goes down (which he normally does) we don't really have cover.

Import? Import? Troisi Kosta Antonis Hope Brown/Deng Niedermier Ansell/Deng Roux Thomas
Bench: Athiu, Valeri, Boxham, Ingham, Acton Squad: Sette Kirdar ?, ?, ?, ?, ? Getting there, but still light on quality depth. Wouldn't be averse to seeing Kenny lead the line tbh, but guessing we'll be looking for an import striker and possibly some Japanese fella in the front third somewhere

I'm normally against recycling former players, but Ansell is still quite a young and upcoming Aussie defender so glad to have him back - was very unfortunate that Donachie was such a success otherwise he probably would've still been with us last season.

Getting there if Honda comes through. Import? Troisi ?Honda? Kosta Antonis Hope Brown Ansell Niedermier Roux Thomas Bench: Athiu, Valeri, Boxham, Deng, Acton Squad: Ingham, Sette Kirdar ?, ?, ?, ?, ? Think Deng will start every match but it could be for any of the back 4 who would then be on the bench instead of him. Just need 1 more import to help Kenny, perhaps another 1 for more depth,
