Apparently they’re in the final stages of a sleeve sponsor negotiation as well which just about fills the shirt right?
New season shirts will be on sale at next Wednesday’s kit launch but not sure when they’ll hit Rebel Sports tho

+xlol I’m not on head ALL day guys 😂 No, not heard anything new just what was posted before I think you guys have shot yourself in the foot trying to sign Flamini. It has taken too long to negotiate a contract, which means he isn't too keen to play in Australia. More so, while this saga has dragged on, other teams have signed much better and younger players

@ PricklePear
I know where you’re coming ng from but I disagree.
Flamini is the final signing, meanwhile few have signed better strikers than Taggart, better wingers than Mikklesen, and better midfielders than Mauk.
That adds to the best keeper in the competition in Young, one of the best CBs in Avraam, and one of the best wingers in Bautheac.
Roars front 4 will be amongst the best, if not the best this season. The defence is not as strong but still strong and up there.
The only thing that can go wrong is JA fucks it all up ...

That’s it PricklePear - see how they play.
It’s hard to pick this early and I think we’ll be back to a few points being the difference between top 4 and then the next 4.

Didn't you guys say you were looking at others players as well besides Flamini in case it falls through?

It would be nice to have this nailed soon, if not it’s most likely a January transfer window move instead.
They’ve had plenty of other options prior to Flamini. Alex Song was looked at briefly but his wages were through the roof.
A guy in Japan failed his medical and they’ve said they looked at a former Latin American international but decided against it, they’ve got two Dutch guys in discussion and then they have Flamini on-going (it seems).
Personally I wouldn’t have given Flamini this long, it took Victory 6-7 weeks to land Honda and Flamini is approaching the same length - but is it worth it this late into preseason??

I'd rather they just sign an alternative at this point.

If they jag Flamini, it will finish off a really good squad this year. The defense has been the Achilles heel and I think that is as much to do with Ross Aloisi as John.

Yuck. They need to sign someone before the kit reveals next week tbh. I wonder who the "Latin American International" was and why they decided against signing him? Flamini would be great, but we just need someone in at this point and it needs to be someone good enough to displace Matty.

How good is Flamini anyway ? If his business interests are so important to him how much will he have invested mentally in playing for us ? I was never a fan of Arsenal so don't have much recollection of what he was like . Was he that good ?..and is he still worth all the effort ?

Essentially the same type of player as McKay but of a way higher quality that allowed him to play hundreds of games for some of the best teams in the world whereas McKay flopped everywhere he played outside of Brisbane. Reads games really well and has some bite in his tackles.

I don’t want to believe they’ll play two 6’s in TK/MM if they don’t make a signing. I think they’ll re-gig the midfield around a 4-3-3

I think they’ll re-gig the midfield around a 4-3-3 I suppose it would be a matter of knowing we'll concede more, so try to score as many as possible. Do we have another starting quality 90 minute CM though? Doesn't seem like it.

@ Mello-D
JA has to realise the flaws in this, Mattie was signed as a squad player surely?
A 433 would allow TK to play the holding role with support from Mauk. Akbari and Caletti can easily fill the other role with Holman/Mckay covering off the bench.

Adam Maher signed 😔 Samir Nasri still available. Miguel Veloso too. Aquilani is a free agent and the same age as Flamini.... I'd love us to look at Dzsudzsak as well - he's a gun.
There just aren't many good Dutch midfield players who are free agents that I can find...

Just had a third ruled out for offside. The boys on fire today. Doubt he’s playing a full game though.

Not great reading about chance after chance being created but not finished. Seems like the Power keeper had a bit of a blinder.
