+xFinch is fine in spinning and road conditions. He is diabolical early on in swinging and seaming conditions. It is what it is. Put him on a MCG road - a century will not surprise me at all. Send him to Kolkata for some Border Gavaskar - him slapping a big 50 or even a century - would not surprise me. Put him on a grassy wicket and he's out 3rd ball... ditto. Send him to the Ashes next year as an opener, I don't see him making drinks let alone lunch vs Jimmy. a first class average of 35 suggest he isn't that great on roads either to be fair

+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xSlow going by the Baggies. we can bat for 5 more sessions if we are good enough. Doesn't matter how slow you go given the match situation Agree. Marsh put us in this holding pattern.. These two young blokes are doing a good job. would really like to see maxwell and renshaw in the team Renshaw yes. There are better batsmen out there than Maxwell. who? Kurtis Patterson,Jake Weatherald, Will Bosisto, Tom Cooper, Sam Heazlett. patterson is worth a shot but all four of the others have averages way below maxwell Yep but they all have better techniques and temperaments than Maxie. doesn't matter how pretty you look its the runs you get that matters and maxwells better than many in the current team I respect your personal opinion. The facts tho dont back up that. I will admit that he is one of our better players of spin. His Asian century proves that. not to be combatitive but which facts? His test average is low but that is only after 7 matches in away matches where he scored a tough century in asia. Most players take about 20 tests to aclimatize and their test average usually equals their first class average. He is right on track to do just that if he gets the opportunity If you chase a style of player rather than just the players with the best 1st class average you are almost always worse off

+x+x+x+xmarsh and finch aside its been admirable fight by the aussies wish we had a couple more wickets in hand so we could cash in more Finch and Marsh should be hauled over the coals for their horrendous dismissals. Marsh played a similar shocker in the UAE. Our tail has to hang around with Head tomorrow to get us near their score. Finch's Victorian coaches insist he struggles against the swinging new wall and shouldn't open in test cricket. I read today Marsh has played 35 tests, scored 9 centuries and 6 hundreds. At the same time he has a very high number of single digit scores. He is a very frustrating cricketer. That is obvious. There was a good coating of grass.. some early overcast so naturally the new ball is going to move. Surely Finch can read a pitch by now. Third ball. Brainless. I do still have faith with Finch, looked good against Pakistan hopefully this brain fade forces him to realise what needs to be done.

+x+xThat Indian attack was really good yesterday. I can't remember seeing them bowl as well as a collective unit in Australia before. I think India will win the series. Even though the Australian players are trying their hardest, the batting just doesn't have the quality to win games in test cricket against tough opposition. Both attacks have been good. Clearly a bowlers's wicket. Ashwin smells blood. He will be dangerous in second innings. I disagree that it is a bowlers wicket, just some proper shit batting.

+xUnfortunately, my favourite opener, Matt Renshaw, was out for few yesterday against a Tasmanian attack. I have been hoping he is a solution to strengthen a weak batting line up. I think Bird or Bell skittled him. Renshaw can not buy a Shield run. Yet he smacked a triple ton in Premier Cricket last Sat/Sun. He is not down on confidence. So what is wrong? Travis Head has proven twice now he is the man for a crisis. We need a couple more with a similar temperament.

He is also a very good fielder and a handy spin bowler. Although I can barely remember him in the recent Shield game against Tasmania at Bellerive. I'm not sure he bowled, or was in the team?

+xAwful lazy, late cut, played by Handscomb that resulted in a caught behind and his dismissal. Did you see that as a late cut DC? Then I got it wrong when I said it was a dab to third man...fave among the flat track bullies.

+x I cannot remember Ashwin getting as much out of any pitch in Australia when he has visited before. He is getting drift, loop, dip, bounce and sideways spin. Ashwin has been more dangerous than Lyon. Proving to be the difference.

+x+x+x+x5-120 at home is shocking! To be fair this is not an easy deck to bat on. It has a good covering of grass.. so there is plenty of seam movement. Timmy's dismissal is a prime example of that seam movement. Now we are in big poo. Barely swung, just an example of how shit our batters are when there is the slightest amount of movement. It cut off the seam. The tiny amount of movement ones are the easiest to nick. It was also an excellent length by Sharma. This is the time when we find out how much Steve Smith is missed. See how many have of our blokes made starts then perished.
