DD needs to say......right Boys, Ross is gone and we are in a crap spot, but it's a new start from today........everyone will have an opportunity and if selected you need to give the club 110%, ........that Is maybe your only chance to save your career in the ALeague.

It's 110 or nothing boys.........in defence, in attack, or whatever..................110% is the only option now or it's nothing.

So theres no second chances...........it's now or never.

Any less is not acceptable to me from now on.

If only I could hear it delivered with a Welsh accent - that would be something to hear :)

We can only hope the players now play for their careers and feel that DD will support them if they stumble to start with. From what DD says in his interviews I would believe that - but who knows how in front of camera translates to the training room.

For Moore and Tiatto I take your point about players rarely being great coaches. I certainly took Yoda Moore's ability on field to teach young Luke as an indication of his ability behind the scenes - but maybe the distance between showing during play and showing on the training pitch just isn't close enough. A voice in your ear during a game is likely to stick in your memory better.

Davies is now in an even tougher spot than he was before. He’s got a bunch of underperforming players low on confidence and he’s on his own. He’s 40 with little experience... can’t they drag Jade North in or someone to help him?

Two stories circulating on Alen Stajcic. First is he’s lost the changing room and is to be given the boot. The second is he’s been approached by an A League club. Roar?

Could be the new Melbourne club too, never been a fan but he did get the women playing well and successful.
Probably been there long enough tho.
It could also be an Aleague womens team.

Brisbane Roar Football Club has assembled a diverse panel to advise on the recruitment of its new Hyundai A-League Head Coach.

Along with the implementation of the panel, a clear process for appointing a Head Coach has been decided following a meeting in Jakarta between Club representatives that included the owners, board members, BRFC's Chief Executive Officer and Football Director.

BRFC has also appointed leading international search and consulting firm SRi Executive and their Managing Partner ANZ; Jonathan Harris will manage the international aspect of our search and advise and facilitate the selection panel.

"As you would expect, Brisbane Roar has had a high level of interest in the Head Coach role," BRFC Chief Executive Officer David Pourre said.

"Former Socceroo and Brisbane Roar Championship-winning defender Jade North, Club’s High Performance Manager Dr. Craig Duncan, BRFC's Chairman Rahim Soekasah, Vice Chairman Chris Fong, Football Director Pedj Radinovic, Corporate Governance Specialist Rachel Sakurai will join myself and SRi Executive on an advisory selection panel.

"We are confident that we will appoint the right person to lead our Hyundai A-League team into the future."

Brisbane Roar will make a final decision on the appointment of the new Hyundai A-League Head Coach soon after the interview process has concluded which will give the successful candidate time to prepare for the Hyundai A-League 2019/20 campaign.

The Club remain positive and firmly focused on the remainder of the Hyundai A-League 2018/19 Season.

Brisbane Roar Football Club can confirm that Darren Davies will continue as the Interim Head Coach for the foreseeable future.

The Club will make no further comment on the appointment process at this stage.

Hopefully they are serious about giving the new coach time to prepare for the season. Would be nice to know what that meant also, in terms of coming in to coach for the remainder of the season or just observing?

@ Mello-D

There’ll be so many variables in that they wouldn’t be able to answer. An Australian coach could start tomorrow. A foreign coach might need 4-6 weeks to get a visa. A coach that’s currently under contract might have to wait until May.

Interesting times ahead.

Happy for them to take a little time, but not much. The new coach needs long enough to take a look at the squad, figure out who he wants to keep and who he wants to let go. And then enough time for new signings etc, especially with a new team in next season.

I think DD needs to come out and explain what he’s looking to achieve for the rest of the season.
1. If it’s about still trying to make the 6 then confirm that players will be picked on form, and let us know whether we are planning to sign anyone in the transfer window.
2. If it’s about looking to next season, then explain that - so we understand the basis for selections.
At the moment it seems that he’s just giving a few different things a go so that players aren’t really playing for their place in the team. Eg Taggart can miss any number of chances yet never get dropped. TK has to do very little to get a game.

Based on Vince and Marco’s articles it looks like the candidates are breaking down in to easy categories:

- big name players/coaches such as Fowler and Sven.

- Internal candidates (just Darren?)

- Australian candidates (NPL and former Socceroos)

- international coaches (unknown names).

It can't be about 6th place. While mathematically possible, it requires 5 wins minimum that (Edit) Adelaide or Nix don't get, goal difference, the Nix have a game in hand, and we have already lost next week's game - any stumble by us or win by them will make the squad feel like they have failed.

It also requires the team above us to lose too.

It has to be about playing good consistent football and anything that sees us climb a rung or two on the ladder will then assist him to keep the team playing that way.

I agree we want to hear something so we can run with team - but DD cannot be silly enough to make it ladder based success unless it is 3. We will not be last.

When I wear their colours, I am the club.

Yeah, agree. It does seem a bit pointless to bother doing anything in the transfer window when there’s nothing to play for and we don’t know who the coach will be.

In general, DD saying it is about next season would be the best development option.

Given JA has tried to foster a specific plan for the last couple of seasons, DD has bugger all chance of creating his own vision and succeeding with it without having a pre-season to get the players on board.

That ties in with Clockworks comment about stating we are looking to next season - then he can make changes wholesale and lose as long as we see what he is doing.

However, so many players likely changing next year, DD unlikely to win the job without proving himself for the rest of the season (new coach/different recruitment/different vision can't be left till the off season to start so DD will not have time to prove himself) - DD is basically doomed.

When I wear their colours, I am the club.

The club were smart in giving DD a years extension on his contract, giving him and his family financial security for the next 2 1/2 years and removing the fear a new coach may sweep all coaches away.

DD is not looking likely to get the gig, also rulling out pretty much all NPL coaches in the process imo.

One of the challenges Roar has is they’ve got applications from countries like Spain and Portugal with respectable CVs but they have no way of evaluating them beyond their immediate record.

strange....maybe that was because it was a John Aloisi side....bar Devere who in my opinion pretty much kept us in the game . He wasn't particularly good but he stopped many potentially dangerous situations and was better than most everyone else. Devere and Pepper were the only two out there really .
That was one of those games where the benchies pray they aren't used .

The honeymoon for DD is well and truly over.He picked a rubbish team, with a rubbish formation and played rubbish football with what must be the slowest team in the league.
TK is just a shirt pulling plodder.
Taggart is slow ,lethargic and just not good enough.
Mckay is not doing anything, except talking and pulling faces. But looks like he is good because the others are so bad.
We have youngsters who can add pace and energy to the team. But with no decent veterans ro rely on,we end up with MV type resultsSo what can youngsters learn ,except how not to play .
We are crying out for a midfield leader of quality.

DWH deserves a start. Forget Taggart and bench him. He just plods around. At least DWH harasses the opposition defence.

TK is done, Bowles done, Taggart all done.

So that opens up for Caletti and DWH next game.
