+x+xLooks like we have lost almost all of the regional NSW sides from the Cup this year. I think only Leeton and Shoalhaven Heads were in the draw, from my half paying attention listen to the draw. FNSW need to find a way to encourage regional clubs to enter. A fall of 24 association clubs from last year. https://footballnsw.com.au/2019/01/18/applications-for-2019-ffa-cup-nsw-preliminary-rounds-now-open/Club Registration Fees $330.00 Association and Football NSW State League Men’s Clubs $550.00 NPL 3 NSW Men’s Clubs $825.00 NPL NSW Men’s and NPL 2 NSW Men’s Clubs So what are thoughts on the fees ? Wonder what AL clubs pay ? The mention of the drop off from regional and NNSW - an incentive would be not to charge ? They already have to travel far, isolated etcetcectc, I don't blame any Association clubs opting out imo.

Clubs | Cost (as set by FFA) | FV Subsidised | Total Cost | NPL Clubs | *$825 (inc GST) | $495 | $330 (inc GST) | All Other Clubs | *$330 (inc GST) | $220 | $110 (inc GST) |
*Any club who forfeits a Cup fixture will be charged the full FFA levy Those are the Victorian costs for entry, with the FFV subsidising a lot of the cost. $110 is a lot more affordable than $330 for an association club, but Victoria has seen a small drop off of regional association clubs too (13 to 11). NSW dropped from 6 regional clubs to 2. Travel and entry costs in NSW are very high, but it doesn't look like FNSW care much about expanding the Cup into the country. There's probably around 80 football clubs in NSW country, maybe they need to consider using regional qualifying. Save a spot in Round 6 for one or two country clubs. A couple of rounds of intra-Branch qualifying (Riverina, Southern, Western) and then maybe a couple of rounds of inter-Branch, with the winners going into Round 6 of FNSW qualifying. Maybe have a country finals (Round 4 & 5) tournament like NNSW do, somewhere central like Yass, over the Easter long weekend, winner into normal Round 6. Although my preference would be for Riverina and possibly even Southern branches to ditch FNSW and head to Capital Football anyway. With 2 major Riverina clubs now playing in the Capital NPL set up, maybe a full move isn't far off.

As I said I don't blame them not participating and so early before the season starts for most clubs/teams wouldn't even know they have a squad registered let alone getting replies from players are you in or out playing the season. As for the lower NSW regions you mention imo it makes sense them joining Capital Football.

I’ve heard at least one association looking at succeeding from FNSW and joint Capital Football. Whether they can do it themselves, or needing the whole Branch to go along with them is an entirely different matter (as well as being accepted of course)
