Kurto is average, so many ppl go nuts about him but he is often caught out with terrible positioning.

shower thought and serious question. Does Western United's name even make sense? Can a direction be united? Maybe they should've added Victoria or something to it.
edit:ok I am a dumb - oops, I just ate my own poop..., western united makes no sense on its own, but when you say western united football club, it does, although it is vague.

Western United? One western what? Western Melbourne? Western Victoria? And United? I never knew the west burbs was splintered. I guess they couldnt use Melbourne United due to the nbl team. And unlike adelaide western United arent two teams merging to have a United front in the national league

Their early branding by supporter groups is very much "uniting the western suburbs of melbourne" of course that does fit for West Melbourne United more than Western United

Let’s say they play in the champions league and they are called western United. How the hell is anyone outside Australia supposed to know where they are from? For me, ‘western united’ is silly. At least call it Western Victoria if you really don’t want anything to do with Melbourne.

I mean I get what they were trying to achieve, uniting the western suburbs, geelong etc, but my question is does the name itself make sense and is it logical? Can a direction be united, which is essentially what the name says. Shit even Western Wombats makes more sense than Western United, unless I’m a dumb - oops, I just ate my own poop... and missing something.

Name makes no sense without a more specific geographic marker.

There's only one United 😉 As an aside to the silly name (keeping with what they are clearly aiming at, should probably be more like Western Plains United or Volcanic Plains United).. I showed my kids who technically are within WU's greater catchment, the clubs crest.. my 10 yo said 'meh' and my 7 yo said 'bad'. On that, something funky like VPU works as a name imo... or VolcanicsFC. At the moment they're just telling me bevels, rooftops and western some blah blah.

Funny you should mention the Victorian Volcanic Plains. I suggested to them to use dark grey as one of their colours to represent the bluestone quarried from the western region that was used in the foundations of many important buildings in Melbourne. At least it was based on something tangible. They chose to go with colours that peoole just randomly liked in their poll (where you could only pick one colour, not a combination of colours).

And unlike adelaide western United arent two teams merging to have a United front in the national league Adelaide is not the product of a merger. It was scrambled together after the withdrawal of Adelaide City from the NSL. The playing squad was largely comprised of City players. The 'united' angle was that it was a coming together of a fan base that was traditionally split between Adelaide City and West Adelaide. But we have to put a limit on that as well - West had disappeared from the national frame for years already. Both clubs are alive and well in the state league. West Adelaide are putting the finishing touches on a new stadium at Kilburn which is frankly the envy of all clubs HAL included.

https://www.change.org/p/western-melbourne-group-jim-lawrence-standThere is a buzz in the west and it's not from the trucks engine breaks!
We as a region are so incredibly excited and grateful to the Western Melbourne Group for fulfilling our dream of having a local Western A-league team.
As a community we are growing in numbers day by day through social media and word of mouth as look to bring in more local football fans together.
No one has put in more work from that perspective, not only in local football in general, but specifically for the inception and growth of the Western United FC fan base and actives.
From supporting local suburban grass roots football to lugging around a giant banner to spread the word of the #SaveHakeem movement, to recruiting and bringing together local community behind our new team.
I speak of course about none other than Jim Lawrence. The Godfather of the WUFC fan base. His commitment and loyalty to the cause are second to none and because of this I, on behalf of the entire WUFC fan base would like to petition for a Jim Lawrence stand at the active section.
I hope you will make this a reality and reward the hard and thankless work JL has put in.
Kind regards
Azi Sheikh
