+xnice try, but Western United is all on new ffa not totally true. If my memory serves me correct, the old FFA got Deloitte to access the bids and both the old FFA and new FFA ratified the winning bids on the recommendations of Deloitte. +xIn the meantime, the Victory is building its facilities in the area which is supposedly part of WU. there is a big difference between the inner west and the outer west of Melbourne.

+xI'd be happy with 5k. given the stadium situation I think even that would be a tall order.

+x+xThe Macarthur bid is looking better & better. Macarthur always made some sense. WU made some sense only to the extent that it was the one "Melbourne" bid that both Victory and City were happy to endorse. In the meantime, the Victory is bMuilding its facilities in the area which is supposedly part of WU. Mv have been using mariybnong college for a while now.

Lowy's board whittled the shortlist down to six and the new board picked the final two, with Delloite acting as consultants, according to this article: https://www.theaustralian.com.au/sport/football/ffa-to-push-ahead-with-expansion/news-story/9a0a4fa13b08d438a26cd16f3ca57b01

Would be a lot less slaps for everyone involved because we all know he would have done a better job. I cant believe the new board FFA have caused the protests in Hong Kong etc etc

Western United brings A-League soccer to Mars StadiumHigh-profile sports have reached new heights in Ballarat with the announcement that Western United will bring A-League soccer to Mars Stadium in 2019-2020. Western United will play four games at Ballarat’s premier multi-sports and events facility, providing the region’s soccer fans with the chance to see their favourite players in action right here in Ballarat. Mars Stadium is Ballarat’s new home of AFL, Super Rugby and now A League soccer. The City of Ballarat has been working to attract the A-League’s newest side, Western United, to play matches at Mars Stadium next season. - Western United v Wellington Phoenix at Mars Stadium on Saturday 28 December 2019 at 5.15pm
- Western United v Brisbane Roar at Mars Stadium on Sunday 16 February 2020 at 4pm
- Western United v Western Sydney Wanderers at Mars Stadium on Sunday 29 March 2020 at 4pm
- Western United v Melbourne City at Mars Stadium on Friday 10 April (Good Friday) 2020 at 4pm.
Earlier this year, City of Ballarat officers met with Western United CEO Maurice Bisetto and facilitated a venue tour of both the Ballarat Regional Soccer Facility and Mars Stadium. Mars Stadium has state-of-the-art facilities, including media facilities, that will enable the matches to be telecast live on Foxtel. The matches are expected to attract more than 5,000 fans. As a result, the games will be held at Mars Stadium, which can cater for more than 11,000 spectators, instead of Ballarat Regional Soccer Facility, which has a capacity of 5,000.

The size of Mars bars it from playing higher capacity games.

I can't read it coz of the paywall. But the old FFA were to announce the successful bidders on October 31 last year based on the Deloitte recommendations. Then decided to delay the announcement until after the FFA elections on November 19. I remember specifically Western Melbourne Group publically calling on the FFA to announce the successful bidders in the leadup to November 19... probably because they knew they were gonna be successful (unless Dandenong stadium funding was approved in the leadup to the Victorian state election on November 24). The successful bidders were announced on December 12, 23 days after the new board was elected... This 23 day period is not a long time to re-assess all the bids and corroborates my argument that they backed the original Deloitte recommendations.

Yeah, to say the process was all the work of the new board and the old board had nothing to do with it is pretty much a straight up lie.
