Only rain can get in Aussie's way.

Smith is a freak.

Smith has had his share of luck too.

Starc has rediscovered his in swinging yorker this morning. He actually looks dangerous again.

It was pertinent  in Starc's bowling speeds that his quickest ball was 147 kph, whereas he normally  bowls a lot more at 150 kph.

Last season in Aus, his average speed was almost the quickest ever recorded in the history of Test cricket, but he was ineffectual. He has gained more accuracy reducing his speed.

Cummins, Hazlewood and Pattinson all seem to be bowling their quickest balls at 145 -146kph.

144.9 kph is 90 miles per  hour.

It really annoys me that the Americans and English still use imperial measurement, whilst  the rest  of the world uses the metric system.

While the batting from many of our players hasn't been great. They have often just occupied the crease enough so that the tail is facing tired bowlers and can wag a bit

Siddles 40 and starcs 50 could be the two knocks that win the ashes

We might aswell put the tail at the top of the order, they've done better than the joke which is our batting lineup.

It is a tough job working out who to leave out of the eleven , now Starc has become more accurate.

He offers something different  from the other bowlers and was effective against the tail. In terms of depth, our current attack of Cummins, Hazlewood, Pattinson and Starc, is the best in Australian test cricket history. I say this because which ever bowler misses out, would probably have not missed out in any other era in a three pronged pace attack.

All bowlers can bowl at the 145 kph mark, which may be the quickest attack in history from all nations. Given reserves Stanlake, Richardson, Meredith and Abbott can all reach these speeds too, there is a squadron of genuinely  fast bowlers in Australia ATM.

Also, the current Aussie attack is accurate and bowls with control at these high speeds.

Recently South A have had Steyn, Morkel, Rabada, Oilveira all bowling at 145 kph, but I'm not sure all could do it at the same time.

This has been a hell of a test series, despite some sub-standard batting  from both teams.

It has indeed. Had everything. Now we are set for an exciting finale. Another nerveless innings from Smith.. this time he got some support from Wade with Paine again contributing Marnus had his first failure but copped a beauty from Archer.

This is how one scribe described Smithy's knock.
Another exhibition of batting genius from Smith in the face of adversity allowed Australia to declare their second innings with half an hour spare on day four. Smith was at his most eccentric and belligerent, darting around the crease, waving his bat like a scimitar, advancing down the pitch and occasionally falling on his back.

Pace aint everything KW. With pace can come erratic control. As we have seen far too often from Starc. I dont think Hazlewood likes hitting above the 140mark. It is when he is at his most accurate as we have seen this series. He does crank it up with his surprise bouncer which is as good as any in the team. Cummins is the world's best because he has two strings to his bowling. He can be an enforcer with his extra speed or tone things down and keep it accurate to build pressure when needed.

Cummins, Hazlewood, Pattinson and Starc, is the best in Australian test cricket history.

Brave call. Lillee Thomson and Walker take some beating. As do McGrath, Gillespie and Lee.  How about this as a four pronged Ashes attack. Lillee, McGrath, Cummins and either of Miller/Hazlewood/Thomson.

Yes I missed them. That is another quality trio.

Cummins isnt the world's best, though in reality. Bumrah's rankings are discounted cos he hasn't played enough tests yet. He will goto number 1 when he takes his 100th wicket...

I know how the rankings work....

He needs 100 wickets before he is not penalised...

Abbas is in the same boat...

SMith is clearly the best test batsman in the world though. He has left KW and Kohli for dust. It's not even close.

Stokes walks.

Brilliantly caught by Paine off Cummins.

4-78.

Fair play to Stokes.

The pressure from GOAT and Cummins from each end is tremendous ATM.

There was just a graph on TV showing how Cummins’ average speed is slowing a little every test since the first one at Edgbaston.

It hasn’t effected the quality of his performances.

GOAT has bowled some potent balls this innings, but the last over to Bairstow, a right hander, there were too many deliveries that were on a line too  much on  the legside.

Welcome to the forum, Deadline.

GOAT has bowled well today without luck.

Better than the last two games DC but still not commensurate (see I too can use fancy words) with his rating as the GOAT.

Just got hold of this stat. Since his successful first match his series figures read 130 overs, 5 @80. He currently has around 0/130.
