+x+x+x+x+xI like the concept but seems to be harder to justify if the revenue generated between the men’s and women’s game is significanty different.
The women’s game deserve more investment, but that should be part of a broader plan to have deliverable targets and align increases to that. Pay equality is one thing, but it’s not always so cut and dry. Not to mention the skill level, standard of play and competitiveness of the opposition. That alone is out of this world. The current joeys team would easily put 10 past them....in a half. Tell you what.... if they can beat the Joeys they can have the cash...but not till then. How long did it take the Socceroos to earn what they currently earn....decades is what. And it’s just gifted to the Matildas because of insane out of control leftist liberalism....a slap in the face to the 74 Socceroos part-timers don’t you think... Why are you criticising a group of people for earning more? By the same logic as the above, all workers need to wait decades for an 8 hour work day etc... You could argue that the Socceroos are overpaid. Their pay structure goes back to the semi-pro days. The Roos probably are based on what other NTs get paid. But that shouldn’t mean we need to knock the Matilda’s down because they got a good deal for themselves. As it's all about money & it's proven that the Matilda's are generating just as much revenue as the men then I have no problem with this.

Between $120k and $370k AUD each. They crashed out of the group stage. England's players would have received $0 AUD if they crashed out of the group stage. Spains player would have received $190 k AUD- if they won the tournament.

Consider what the 74 Roos were compensated and the revenue they generated....gross imbalance that equates to UNDERPAID. Now compare the revenue the Matilda’s generate and what they are compensated(now)...gross imbalance that equates to OVERPAID. Comes down to simple economics and a comparison of market v market total revenue. In this case International men’s football vs international women’s football. No offence but they are light years apart. Nothing to do with all workers waiting decades for an 8hour day and that comment is highly disputable anyway...

Australian women's football is really riding on the coat tails of the Socceroos of the past. There is nothing "equal" about getting paid the same for bringing in less.

The 74 Roos may have been underpaid at the time but the Matildas now have negotiated a good deal for themselves. International women's football may generate less revenue than the men's but its not about that. The Matilda's have managed to negotiate a greater cut and good of them for doing that.

Absolutely they have negotiated an amazing deal, bloody well done. But it needs to be separated away from social justice rubbish, it is pure capitalism and good on them for it.

Australian women's football is really riding on the coat tails of the Socceroos of the past. There is nothing "equal" about getting paid the same for bringing in less. No, No No. National teams are not a profit making venture, and never have been. National team pay should not be, and to my mind, never has been about what the game brings in. Despite what has been said about this being a world first, basketball in Australia has paid the same since the 90s, and hockey since the 70s or 80s. Given neither of those sports bring in anything like what football does in Australia, they should be more inclined to pay out of income generated, not less. In fact, Charlesworth came out and said there have been times when the national womens hockey team was paid MORE, not less, because they were better performed. Paying women less, and justifying paying women less, is actually about judging the value of womens sport, not the monetary value of womens sport. That is just a smokescreen argument.

To qualify for a WC.
lose 9-1 to South Korea. Over 70 minutes in our own half.
Semi final 7-0 loss to japan.
5-1 loss to nth Korea.
could barely get over both Thailand and Vietnam.
