If your happy with mediocrity that's your prerogative.

I like to see us fighting for honors, with skill and a bit more finesse.

Some of these players have very poor ball control and are ugly to watch, even when they win.

Happy for RF though, showing he can coach. 

Who's happy with mediocrity? Maybe some of us remember the unmitigated disaster of last year and are happy to support a team that doesn't cave at the first sign of trouble.  Some of us are even able to see a solid foundation being put in place that can see even better results moving forward.  It certainly beats miserable pessimism and an inability to enjoy progress and victories.

Oh yes last year. Not a good barometer comparing to the lowest basis.

Some of those players would have done well under RF.

Defensively we are anything but mediocre - I’d say we have one of the best defences in the Comp 

Attack wise. Yeah, we’ve loads of improving to do but RF had the balls to sack his main striker - love the message that sends to the squad. 

As I have said before, very happy with the progress of the team and have often praised RF, however we have to be realists.

We are the ugliest to watch and the ladder confirms we are mediocre.

The ladder puts us dead centre - but to me that masks our performance rather than revealing it.

If we had won a few and lost a few all season, and sat around the middle from the start, the ladder would confirm our mediocrity (relative to the other teams).

But throughout the season so far we have come from the bottom of the ladder to halfway - which actually says we are far from mediocre.

I don't dispute your perspective on our ugly football - that's how you see it and you are certainly not alone. What I do say about our ladder position is to come from the bottom to halfway actually confirms we are a better than mediocre side.

It is a true meaningless stat because at that point not everyone has played everyone else even - but it is interesting to toy with.

City plays Phoenix this weekend, and it is feasible that City will win. Roar play WU this weekend and are a chance to win. Give SFC two wins for their catch-up game and to equal City's 17 games played, and give PG the win against us in their next game (grrr). If all that happens the top 5 (ignoring the first 8 games played) are:

Recent form grinding out results is good but reached its peak IMO.

Better than mediocrity is above the middle, not the middle. I like to aim higher and expect to be higher.

I still think we are a chance at 4th and hope for higher.

No peak reached yet - we had a rest and something to eat early in the season and now we are striding up the mountain.

Love your enthusiasm. If we end up in the top 4, that says something how poor the other teams are, rather than our performance.

Top 4 is definitely an option. We are in the same basket as Nix and WU and in better recent form than both of them. So why not? 

Can't see it.  If we make the 6 it will be a scrape in job.  I think recent results have flattered the quality fo the team and that this run will end.  5 or 6 possible.  7 or 8 still more likely in my view.

If we make the 6, it will be a rousing endorsement of RF's coaching, because that result certainly means the team playing as more than the sum of very ordinary parts.

Anyone notice how Gillespe was trying to deliver those long diagonal balls vs Adelaide? Skewed and never found their marker. I mean he can stick a leg out OK (which incidentally requires no ball skill but timing), the rest should be simple football skills 101 which at this level has been atrocious.

I bloody well like it too. 

Honestly I'd rather AAH than Opseth or Meier. Both haven't lived up to it. At least AAH is improving, and if given more time I'm fully expect him to get more effective.

I like Pepper. In an uncapped League I wouldn’t like Pepper but the reality is he’s getting minimum wage ($80k?) so look around the league and see what $80k buys you?

Some still had a contract but in the main a new team was brought in. The recruitment by Roar has been a disaster across the board. Jamie Young is the only consistent player at good HAL standard.
