I think I have become addicted. It’s informative but easy listening and also very funny at times.

Out of interest, I wonder (and in a sick sort of way would love to see) how all those who appear blissfully ignorant and/or naive, telling/convincing themselves and others that there will only be positives to come out of this wee experiment/adventure react, if things turn ugly and violent.

Now I'm not saying things will most definitely kick off, as there is a chance things won't and everything runs smoothly. But I've seen first hand in Australia how fast the mood and environment changes when certain elements from either side end up in close proximity with each other (usually during or after the viewing of the Glasgow Derby), and on quite a few times things turn ugly fast.

So for argument sake, say things do kick off between the two sets of fans/groups (and anyone else who wants to partake) before and after the match, and things turns ugly, violent and chaotic, what sort of reaction will there be from all those who have/had been preaching that only good and positives will come from this event??

Guaranteed they will want a night time kick off, what could possibly go wrong ? No segragation in the ground or on public transport and spending all day in the pub. Carnage ensues.

You seriously think Rangers only make £3million per year ?

Don’t put your unemployment cheque on it definitely going ahead.

They were in the red this season. They must be getting a sum, the spokesman said they are getting what they make in one season. Thats what he said.
Would it be out of context? Doubt it..

On youtube, Pure Scottish Football comments included that both teams will make more than they would in a season. If its tv money, it wasn't said, so be it.
Graeme Souness on the same show said he fully endorsed this Super Cup. If it is good enough for well respected Souness, its good enough for everybody.

Not only, quite a few of your nutters too. Glasgow seemingly has lots of crazies from both sides of the divide and this show let’s everyone expose their views. It’s actually helped me understood some of the posters on this thread, again, from both sides.

There may come a time again when the directors won't come up with the money. They didn't when you were placed into liquidation. If you don't win the league you miss out on the 40 million from the ECL and are once again in financial trouble.

Make does not mean generate. If you sell something for $100 which cost you $60 you have made $40 not $100. I don't agree that was Soccerfoo's point. He would understand that. More likely he was referring to the SPL prizemoney.

What has that got to do with my comment that I doubted crowd control would be a problem in Australia?

Souness was a great player but his opinion on this is no more relevant than that of the average new firm/old firm fan.

Besides it appears most  likely that the two won't play each other. I doubt he would endorse a "friendly" between the two and I doubt that the boards of both teams would agree to it..

The match would be played in a competitive spirit. Its termed friendly because its not for three points. They don't like each other so it won't be a stroll.
Either would hate to concede a match to the other, even when it's played in Australia. He said it and I saw it on Pure Scottish football.
It might get played in Japan some other time as well.

Why would that be a problem in Australia? It wasn't when the huns toured previously.

The potential will be there especially if the two play each other (there better not be a match - period).

I mentioned earlier in this conversation that there would be a real possibility for trouble to arise. If you get a situation where the two groups are in the same/close proximity with each other it wouldn't/doesn't take much for things to turn ugly, violent and chaotic. As I mentioned before, I've seen it happen here in Australia during and after a showing of the Derby match.

Now, I'm not saying that there will definitely be trouble, because I'm not. There could very well be no issues at all, where everything goes perfectly fine. All I'm saying is, there will most definitely be the potential for things to get out of control and turn violent and chaotic, especially before and after the match (again, there better be no match).

There is a derby going to be played in Australia, lets accept it and move on. It won't get cheapened for being played in Sydney. It has been endorced by many as its also been criticised. The derby is not too big for Australian shores. I like many give an opinion but there are others that attack when the opinion does not parallel with theirs. follow the trend of the posts and notice I attack second. I've just been just giving abit back, some find it humourous. I don't really hate anyone on here.

(1a) There is a derby going to be played in Australia, lets accept it and move on.

(1b) It won't get cheapened for being played in Sydney. It has been endorced by many as its also been criticised.

(2) The derby is not too big for Australian shores.

(3) I like many give an opinion but there are others that attack when the opinion does not parallel with theirs. follow the trend of the posts and notice I attack second. I've just been just giving abit back, some find it humourous. I don't really hate anyone on here.

RE (1a): Just because the two teams are coming over to play in the so called 'Super Cup, that does not mean/guarantee that the two teams will play each other. They both may only play the two Sydney sides.

RE (1b): The arguments against the possibility of the match happening has nothing to do with the Derby being cheapened. It's all to do with that the two teams should never face each other in any sort of friendly match/tournament. Be it in Sydney, Glasgow or anywhere else in the world – it doesn't matter. The only time the two teams should face each other is when they are required officially on the domestic and European fronts.

RE (2): It has absolutely nothing to do with whether it is too big for Australia or not.

RE (3): There is nothing wrong with given an opinion, so long as things don't get personal negatively. I'll leave it at that as there isn't much to say.

———
A follow up questions... Why does it concern/fire you up so much as to whether the two Glasgow side play each other or not??

It may just be me, but I find your attitude to the topic rather odd (I'm not meaning to attack you if it comes across as such – apologies in advance).

Yeah why would the players not like each other?  Many of them are not Scottish.  They're in Scotland for the money.  The hatred is left to the fans.  The players look at their pay cheques
