Lecce striker Jason Vescan-Kodor (2006 - 🇦🇺🇷🇴) has been called up to their Primavera (U19) side. He has also reportedly been called up to the Joeys for the Asian U17 Cup, per reports in Romania.

Absolute mountain. Please football God let him and Yengi give us a decade of giant.

#AFCU20 Asian Cup bound ✈️🇺🇿

Presenting our 23-player squad for March’s tournament, which acts as a qualifier for this year’s FIFA U-20 World Cup!

All matches will be streamed live & free on 10 Play.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australia_men%27s_national_under-20_soccer_team

Nice to see Triantis in. Surely we have higher calibre eligible but they might need release from their club.

Don't get why the Reims boys weren't included nor Irankunda.

Simple, Adelaide didn't release him. He's going to be getting more minutes with the injuries at the club and they're losing a few players in this team like Bernardo, Yull and Madanha. Losing Irankunda on top of that would basically suffocate them of any spark off the bench, he is essential in this final stretch. Also worth mentioning, Irankunda won't be able to play the U20 World Cup anyways because it is very close to the U17 Asian Cup, which he is the staple of. With travel time and training camp with only a few days between tournaments, it doesn't seem possible to rely on him for the U20's. That means, there is no point to choose him in this squad because FA have said it many times, that these squads are there to build depth for the eventual prize team in the U20 World Cup, no point playing someone who won't make the final team. They're giving other people chances. As for the Reims boys, I'd say Toure probably didn't want to play, he hasn't shown much interest in playing and has pulled out of the U20 Squad before, both of them are struggling for minutes so leaving mid-season would be even more detrimental to their progress and I can only imagine that the club did not allow them for release. It may be different for U20 World Cup though, more to play for and during the offseason and mostly within an international window. I'd expect to see at least Dukuly in the final squad. It's not like FA just forgot about these players, there are legitimate reasons these players weren't included and they make sense and everyone should've expected as much.

Definitely feels like a game where the boys haven't played much together.

Very disjointed on the ball and not able to do much with it.

Who's the boy on the left wing? He's got some skill.

I just watched the replay, one thing ive noticed was the amount of athletes that was in the team and very little room for technically gifted players.
Agree that left winger looked a talent with he's skill.

But i know there is an under 17 World Cup at the end of the year if they qualify but im not sure if it sends a good message for our talent ID with the amount of early developers that are selected.

There was one centre mid who looks tall like our own Harry Souttar!

Talent ID is such an big issue in this country so they have to find room for find as much talent as possible especially those technically gifted late developers, maybe we need more junior national teams like they do in overseas countries? But something to keep an eye on I think.

Also just watched the replay. Our midfield was poor in the first half-lots of turnovers and sloppy passes. The Czechs had more chances but could not finish them off.

Our defenders often won one on one duels but lacked co-ordination in setting up their defensive formation so were often caught out by a quick counter.Luckily the Czech forwards shot straight at our keeper Pavlesic. He did look quite competent and most of his distribution was very good.

The midfield improved in the second half and we dominated the first twenty five minutes but with replacements upsetting the rhythm we lost control of the midfield and our opponents looked more likely.

Agree the LW looked good with the ability to take on and beat his defender.Does anyone know his name and where he plays?

What I did like about our team was when a player lost the ball or played a sloppy pass to an opponent he usually tried to win the ball back and harried the Czech player.

Playing out from the back was generally very good but a few mistakes were made .We have to remember the age of the players and this is a learning experience for them.

Is this the standard of football we should see in u17 international football?  There doesn't seem to be any players on either team with high level ball skills.

Probably not. I can only imagine how much more cohesive the French or English youth teams would look. Yet it's about playing time overall and together. These international camps are building just that. The WC is the place to see what U17 teams can do.

I was right in my thoughts that very few who play U17 make it all the way. A quick glance shows Rowles and Sainsbury with double figures for the U17 but the vast majority starting at U20 level. 1997 aside I guess we can almost ignore what happens at this stage as the better players come through a few years later.

There's not a chance that he wouldn't be going to the u20 WC if selected.

No one gives a stuff about the u17 Asian Cup. The U20 WC on the other hand is a huge junior event. Ludicrous to say he wouldn't play in the big tournament because he has a little comp to play in against minnows in front of zero scouts. If he's good enough to get selected in the squad and we qualify then he goes to the u20WC

He's easily the best u20 forward in the a league & has the potential to be better than Garang. If we qualify for the u20 world cup, then it would be crazy for Irankunda not to be picked.

I see you completely missed the point and you're wrong, Carl Veart gave him the option of either U20 or u17 and they chose together the U17's. He can't be overworked and he has commitments to Adelaide United, not to mention you can't play both tournaments.

I find it quite the investment that a lot of Australian based players are going to a European camp for the Olyroos.
