Australia win. Iran miss a sitter at the death. Could've been 7:3 for Australia. Hard fought and a good second half. Should have buried it earlier with a fourth goal as that second Iran goal really saw the clock standstill for 20min. A good aggressive battle by the Australian players. Lots of block by Iran for the Australian chances.

After multiple chances denied at their end Iran now make it 2:3 with 10 to go. Now we're in for a big big fight. So unnecessary.

OH FFS victory on Drew's foot but they scramble to block. Should have done better. We're still pushing and fighting but two goal leads and Iran....

Bernado having fun with the space afforded. Good game management experience for these players now. Should have buried a 4th by now.

WAs release for this mandatory by clubs? I totally get how Adelaide would feel with Irankunda. I'd have to trawl to find anyone of eligible who shouldn't have missed out. To show how young this age is, Bos and Teague are ineligible. Can debate it all day but I wish Garang were here for this. The big if of making the WC means hopefully the better bunch will all go.

Tokyo vibes this seeing our young players unexpectedly do well. Despite the absolute blindness of the opening 2min we seem focused and pumped. Interesting is our best two in Rawlins and Triantis are calm and poised as a CB pairing.

Rawlins at LCB in build up. Keep an eye on that. Clearly one of the sharpest out there and he's played at U23 level.

What’s with these shit line-ups. Our better players seem to be remaining on the bench.

Up against Iran in 30mins at 9pm.
At a glance there's been a bit of rotation.

Japan 2 China 1 Saudi Arabia 1 Kyrgyzstan 0. AFC cut the foul for the penalty from the highlights. Apparently dodgy Saudi yet again.

+xhttps://youtu.be/7HfHgN3jGcYPlenty of Match highlights on the channel. Such an important international experience for ours players. I still feel there's a lack of seriousness in preparation, selection and demeanour from ourselves. The U23 last year looked alright but also had shabby moments where I shook my head. Agreed, we are still incredibly naive when it comes to these tournaments especially at u20 level. Whilst we may believe the players who have debuted in A-League are the best players to represent us, it comes down to form at time of selection, and a lot of these guys have not played much A-League, let alone football in the past 3-4 months apart from Triantis. NPL football only just started, so most of these guys would not have played much competitive football for the last 6 months if they hadn't have had sporadic game-time in the AL. Y-League..... N2D...... FA? Dwight Yorke nailed it.

67% possession to Australia but Only 4 shots at goal, 1 on target. 9 shots for Vietnam, 3 on target. Might just be me but Vietnam players looked fitter, faster and hungrier too
