I must say I didn't notice how technically strong jelacic was

I think the a league, despite playing a progressive style of football, allows a lot of Argy bargy which can neutralise technical players.

The Mexican midfield has been a touch better at generating space, winning second balls and circulating possession. We have won most other aspects in the game, incredibly we are technically stronger and gee Farrell talbot and triantis have made a difference

Incredibly this is still not a full strength team, with circati Bos irankunda missing along with possibly volpato and toure also available

Hopefully we get the Group C team so we can hopefully take on France in the final.

We're ranked higher than France and Panama would need to win their game vs Morocco. 

If so we may play Mexico again then as best 2nd with 6 points and decent GD. 

I'm in the same boat. I wasn't super impressed by Teague in the other games but he was amazing today. 

Must have been watching a different game - I thought Talbot had a shocker, so did Rawlins - easily the worst game I've seen him play & he's normally one of our best players at this level/ age group. Teague & Farrell were our best. Triantis good  Way better second half and started playing some good football in the last 20 mins or so. Tilio & Peupion couldn't get into the game, mainly down to the horrendous passing out from the back. 

Sounds like we are only disagreeing about Talbot tho?

I thought Ryan Teague was our best, I think he needs first team football but if he can get it and I can see him push towards a Socceroos cap in the near future because he's got some talent.

Not only technically a good player he also reads the game good too which he made for the assist with the first goal and held the ball up well to get Kuol involved on the counter as well.

Semi finals is a decent effort after a slow start, the good part is they get 2 more games even if they dont make the final they will play the 3rd place playoff too, so more match minutes for the players at this level.

Overall it was a tough, physical game of football but we defended well and Mexico didnt really create anything special to test our keeper however we need to better with the ball hopefully more time together they can work on the connections and get our talented attacking players more involved in the game.
Plenty of scope to work on but good signs for the future too.

By the way is Tilio ok? he came off with an injury or an knock not sure what happened.

Indeed the extra game is crucial. We play roughly half the underage games as the european heavyweights. These games are probably a touch above a league level (thinking of a league in january when it's a bit slower)

Really hope teague and rawlins relaunch their career after this. If teague really is our best 6, given how much depth we have in that position he should be able to crack europe you would think.

Rawlins best position is right back, so if he can start regularly for utrecht that really helps the national team

At a glance of past years it appears the two teams advancing from the same group don't play in the semis. So if Mexico were to be the 2nd best team we'd be playing France or the winner of group C.

The commentator for this game in a knowledgeable Englishmen. He had done his homework as knewvthat the Melbourne City and Central Coast Mariners players only got to the tournament for the third game due to the grandfinal. Made some comments about the fact that these players travelled together to France.

This puts in better stead than all of those you mentioned as i would suggest that is a better league than our A-League Mens
