Harry was the closest we had to a world class outfield player. Unfortunately his career was marred by injury. I would put him in more of the Garang Kuol class. They both have heaps to do. I hope they both have a career as good as Harry's (without the injuries). Then we may start asking who is the next Nestory or who is the next Garang rather than who is the next Harry | Games | Goals | Assists | Minutes | Mins per goal | Mins per goal contribution | Birth Date | Leaving Leaving date | Age When leaving | Nestory | 57 | 15 | 8 | 2243 | 150 | 98 | 9/02/2006 | 26/05/2024 | 18 years 3.5 months | Garang | 17 | 6 | 4 | 531 | 89 | 53 | 15/09/2004 | 1/01/2023 | 18 years 2.5 months |

+x+xIt got me thinking when the NC was first introduced it was in 2010 then the second version came out in 2014 so these kids would be around 5 years old for the 2nd version, its pretty much the whole pathway from under 5s whilst other generations from the early 2000s generation would have gone through it partially or 75% of it. And you could make an argument some of these players in this squad we rarely develop or even never had developed previously, so its quite interesting to see fruit of labour from it after all these years. And its not say there are other factors too especially the introduction of the a-league academies which would have been a factor and has been quite beneficial to Oz player development in recent years, I think the NSD and a-league expansion into new areas with academies could make a big difference in expanding the player pool even more. Indeed the dark ages of youth development are finally ending Based on what I have seen in recent youth teams the average technical level should close to being on par with most Asian and European nations from now on.
I think the purpose of the NC was to improve the technical and tactical base which caused confusion and misunderstanding in the early years, their will always be outliners of course but it at least from now on we should compete more technically whilst maintaining the other strong attributes which we are good at.
But indeed the dark days are probably over.

Where do you reckon his best position is? Left or right? I dont know part of his game is his ability to play on either side, I just think its insane. Every time he touch's the ball even if it looks like going no where he draws in 3 or 4 players and creates space/chances for other. The asian teams in our qualifying would panic every time he touched the ball and when beating a packed defense this extra movement makes it so much easier. I just think we genuinely have a weapon that other teams would be scared to play against this opens space for our other guys to shine too. Its just hit shooting that reminds me of kewell so much not the finesse type finish but just the power not many aussie strikers can hit it like they do.

Predictions for lineups?
I'm thinking ................................Hall........................................... Italiano..........Girdwood-Reich........Natta.........Farrell ...............................Teague.............................. .............Segecic.........................Hollman....... ......Brook.............................................Milanovic ................................Alou..................................
Will be something along the lines of this. Personally, I wouldn't choose this lineup but I think this is what they'll do.
I prefer: Jelacic over Segecic, Toure over Alou and maybe Garang over Brook. I just think Segecic, Alou and Brook are all defensive lineups as they're all really good at pressing and tracking back, but I think against a likely more defensive side in Jordan we need to be more explosive from the get-go.

Tricky thing about lineups is we dont know when, how and how much rotation there will be. If we make the quarters my side is --------------------hall--------------- Talbot----jgr----popa--farrel- -------------teague-hollman- ------------------jelacic/segecic- -milanovic-toure-kuol------

Peru gave me that 2006 feeling Started each game feeling depressed there was no way would make it, belief grew more with each minute passing, a big player bottling a penalty making me think here we go again then the sheer joy of qualifying Mooy was absolutely immense with his rhythm changes. Everytime peru had momentum or the crowd got involve he would kill the game for a few minutes stroking it around then accelerate the game when we were emotionally back in control. As immense effect as guus hiddink despite being a player, to take nothing from arnie who did a very fine job

He runs the whole game where Jelacic can be lazy sometimes. Both pretty good options at the 10.

I trust Youtube will have livestreams. Surely official ones at that. It seems Vietnam TV channel V5 is showing the game. Maybe without a login or subscription so that could be an emergency workaround.

Team out:
Beach Talbot JCP Popovic Farrell Teague Youlley Hollman Milanovic Brook Alou
Rotation is key in this type of squad and that's clearly the methodology we are using

Lots of good players on the bench, seems like we may be saving our better team for the game against Indonesia which I think is our hardest opponent in the group.

I think Natta, Hall, JGR, Kuol, Toure, Italiano, Jelacic/Segecic could all join that lineup. Game by game rotation is a smart move but need to be a bit more top heavy against better competition. If we come up against SK/Japan we have to use our best team because that game is literally the whole tournament and cycle in one 90 minute moment.

It takes me 10 to 15 games to assess a player
Those with more of an eagle eye than me, how good is youlley compared to our other midfielders?
