I think you'll see a few changes after the WC.
Have to start giving time to new CBs, MFs and FWs.
Williams is by far the best keeper imo. Arnold a clear second choice. Campbell, Dumont or maybe youngsters Whyman and Micah all battling for the number 3.
After the WC in 2019...
GK Williams Arnold Campbell
DF Polkinghorne Kennedy (New CB) - ? Catley Carpenter (New RB) - ?
MF Butt Harrison Kellond-Knight VanEgmond (New CM) - ? Gorry Chidiac
FW Foord Raso (New LW) - ? Logarzo Simon Kerr (New S) - ?

+x+xHow much longer do you think these ladies will play for the matildas? Devanna-33-34y.o Luik-33y.o Heyman-29-30y.o Cooper-30y.o Polkinghorne-29y.o Alleway-28-29y.o Williams-29-30y.o We could be in big trouble over the next few years. Devanna, Polkinghorne and Williams will be huge losses. Only 1 CB left in Kennedy. 3 of those are squaddies at best, Williams has a good many years left as a keeper (besides Arnold is probably just as good) I can see Clare Polkinghorne and Alana Kennedy be our first choice centre backs for a fair while in the future.

We are capable of playing much better. Our frontline have been missing the injured Caitlin Ford big time.

+xOne thing though. How did our group end up so strong and the other group so weak?China, thailand, Phillipines, Jordan. How does that work? and no North Korea...they were unlucky not to be there, highly ranked but were in the same qualifying group as Sth Korea ending up level on points with them but only one goes thru..

+xSam Kerr saves the day at the last minute, she's truly our new Cahill. France sounds like a nice trip... Matches in some different places too. Paris, Rennes, Valenciennes, Reims, Le Havre, Nice, Montpellier, Grenoble and Lyon Amazing even in 2011 I didn't particularly get the info nor understand the simplicity and opportunity to watch the Matildas in Germany. Games in Bochum, Gladbach and Leverkusen would have been all to easy to attend.

Surprised ref didn’t call foul but replay looked like the keeper hit Kerr’s legs if anything
Van eg was pretty bad tonight. Coughed up a lot a didnt create much either. Dragging DeVanna was a good call too. Just seemed off tonight.

Looked like a foul to me but will take it.
Still think the squad needs van egmond and kellond knight paired together in midfield with someone a little more creative in front of them.

Yes. Win the group on goal difference.
Glad SK went out. Anti football from a strong country. Poor form.

Japan leading 1:0. South Korea up 4:0 vs Vietnam. As it stands we will have a 5th placed playoff against the Philippines for World cup qualification.

+xMatildas won 8:0 vs Vietnam. South Korea held Japan to a 0:0 draw. This complicates things a bit Currently it's Australia and Japan on 4 each. South Korea has 2 points and should beat Vietnam giving them 5. Tie breaker is head to head. - Points in head-to-head matches among tied teams;
- Goal difference in head-to-head matches among tied teams;
- Goals scored in head-to-head matches among tied teams;
- If more than two teams are tied, and after applying all head-to-head criteria above, a subset of teams are still tied, all head-to-head criteria above are reapplied exclusively to this subset of teams;
- Goal difference in all group matches;
- Goals scored in all group matches;
- Penalty shoot-out if only two teams are tied and they met in the last round of the group;
- Disciplinary points (yellow card = 1 point, red card as a result of two yellow cards = 3 points, direct red card = 3 points, yellow card followed by direct red card = 4 points);
- Drawing of lots.
I don't understand. Wouldn't tie breaker criteria 2 and 3 be automatically redundant if Japan and Australia drew? Therefore automatically going to complete goal difference. Criteria 2 and 3 only appears to work of teams play twice like in the champions league. Australia would go first on criteria 5.

+x+xStill very high chance either Japan or us won't be going to the world cup. That's a scary thought. Well done S.Korea on getting their tactics right. Don't forget about the 5th place play-off for a WC berth. Which ever team finishes in 3rd in Group B should have no trouble beating Thailand or Philippines for the last WC spot. Oh ok didn't know that. Cheers
