There was something to that effect called 'championship manager' which was a sort of spin-off of FM, but the gameplay was pretty average.

in fifa 08 be a pro they should be more like the manager mode so you can get offers from other clubs and your club buys players. would be much more interesting.
with fm (i only have the demo) the game is the most boring part of it. all the rest is pretty good. with sydney fc i bought papiat or something he is from thailand. he scored almost every game and was excellent. i also bought aloisi (free agent) he also provided goals. i had brosque and santalb out wide and juninho and enfield or talay in the middle. i was going well. and another thing fm is really addicting. and it seems much easier to transfer people than your saying. i beat the likes of frankfurt and some other teams to buy aloisi. i also brought spiranovic.
and afromangt how the hell did you get all those players in the a-league. i quicked simed a hole season with melbourne. i ended up with about 5 mil and then bought hassilebank.

TBH the game was the bit that lost it for me, if you just could quick sim, maybe you can?, then i might get back to it. I really do i hope i enjoy it but i dont know if i can be fucked giving it a go.

Voted most adictive game at some nerdy gaming award a few years back (I think it was 'joystick') and signings aren't that hard if you just do them and dont' make a mountain out of a molehill.

You're talking about FIFA?? It took three years, and i just got bored of it then.

You won't be able to do this in the demo but you click through to the "match preview screen" then click "manager" > "manager options" > "go on holiday", change the box that is checked to "return from holiday after:" and change it to "1 days" and click ok...it quick-sims the game.

I have the full version FFS. I DLed FM07 last year and didnt gove it a go, i remember using the holiday function though.

Holiday fucntion is the closest you get to "quick-sim" of a match.

so you just holiday for match day, sounds good.

If you holiday the matchday, your assistant manager will pick your team most of the time. If you check the box to use the XI you designated, he won't use substitutes. so you click through to kick-off and holiday then.

This only glitch that I can find on my FIFA '08 is when the Andy Gray pronounced Obefemi Martins is "Geremi".

There are many, many more glitches in FIFA like the positioning of players and their overall rating improving when you move them out of position (I dont' remember which ones changed for the better, I know one of the blokes at Bristol Rovers went from 45-62 though)

In the pre match eam selection in fifa 07 aguero went from 96 or something to 104 when you moved him to centre back, id call that a glitch. But when you went into a match like that he goes down to 54 or something.

Alex Wilkinson, the captain of Mariners if you didn't know, gets one more point if he's a fullback. Kerlon gets +2 if he's a LM or RM.

Here it goes, sheffield united. Transfer window just closed first season, ive been playing for 4 hours. Signed Hobbs from liverpool on season long loan, lulinha although have to wait for a year for him to come in and cost me 3.2 mill, barizite from arsenal, francisco duran from liverpool for 1.7 he was highley recomended by the scout but idk, zapata whos 16 from villareal, ive signed many youngsters as you can see. currently 2nd in the championship after 3 games and looking in good shape.

It still feels a bit messy playing it, ie i feel as though ive missed something and dont know where everything is yet.

Any advice, how do you think im going.

That's nothing. Each position takes into account different attributes. If you have... a Centre back with a decent crossing ability and you put him to either full back position then his overall will go up a few points because the CB position doesn't take into consideration crossing ability whereas RB and LB do.

Yeah, felt the same way when I started playing it. Once you get through about a quarter of the season in your first shot you should have the gist of it. If you've stuffed up and gone into administration, you can always start again :)

Lulinha is a great buy, always. Duran isn't that good, but he'll get you to promotion. Hobbs is quality for pocket change. Other than that, i'd recomment Schmoller to you for down back, you won't get him straight away either, but he's a good buy most of the time. Also, Balotelli if you can get him is worth it.

If that's within the budget he's been give, he should be OK.

After a while you'll start to find a flow to things in the game and things will be better. I only just recently started playing around with the coaches and training and I've got something like 40odd seasons worth of experience, so if you don't start doing everything straight away, it's not the be all and end all.

I forgot to say i sold a lot of players too, i actually made about 1.5 million pounds profit on the transfer market, also hobbs i got on loan and liverpool pays 50% of his salary and ive got him for the whole season.

1.5mil would have just about covered all those signings anyway if you were lucky enough:P

Bojan, Balotelli, Banega, Kerlon, Giovinco if you can get him, Lulinha (but you've already got him), Patrice Araujo, Diego Costa (atletico's one), Oscar Ustari. They're all good and useful, but there's not a lot of width in those names there. I'll give you more names on the weekend when I can actually see more what i'm looking at (I try not to play during the week or nothing gets done).
Aaritalo is a great buy for a championship team and an absolute steal if he's still in Finland.

Chris James...he's fuckign gun and available on a free at the start of the game, so definately take a look at him.
Mikka Aaritalo is a AM RL, ST who used to play at Aston Villa but is playing in Finland at the start of the game and is incredibly useful.
Araujo you should be able to stitch up for about 1-1.5mil, the rest I guess that's just the price you pay for quality youth.
