Lovely work Palaisious, if you're doing requests, can you do a fantasy map for Brisbane (stikers/Roar), Adelaide (United/West/City) and Perth (Glory/TBA!),:d

Any NEW victorian team wanting to take advantage of suburbia would need to base itself from dandenong outwards, targeting new suburbs of cranbourne, casey and berwick. Dandenong is set to become our second cbd like parra in sydney and so would make sense, otherwise geelong is the go for new start ups

Would Victory as centre, work with a south east and north west team? Basically you'll see that Melbourne is a lot more centralised, the only part of Metropolitan Melbourne you could split off with discreet geographical representation might be the South-East as that expands the furthest, but even that is a push. For example, all the AFL teams may carry the names of 19th century suburbs but they all play out of two stadiums in the city now, MCG and Ethihad. You'd find the best way to introduce new teams is by other points of difference than geography, such as South Melbourne if it really does have sufficient Greek backing, or Heart with its.... being red? How about Collingwood future-proof themselves and enter a team? Wouldn't even be the first time they've done it.

I'm not sure if there's still a place for Northern Spirit, being in between Sydney FC and the Mariners both geographically and in being Sydney's "new football" option.
Still, photoshop is fun.

Add about 15k this game Sydney could support as many as 6 teams (CBD, North Shore, Shire, Parra, Penrith, South West) imo but not for a while Edited by redshirtwilly: 9/2/2013 08:51:38 PM The potential is clearly huge. Apparently Campbelltown has 9k registered juniors. There are 13 District Associations in Sydney and the Macarthur Association based on Campbelltown is the 9th largest. The major point about the region is that it is marked as one of the two major growth areas for Sydney and will grow by about 15k a year for the next 25 years and have a population slightly less than Adelaide currently is by 2036. Its quite conceivable that there could be 20-25k juniors playing there by that time.

If I had it my way I would wait until 2016 which is the year before our next tv deal to expand. I would bring in Tasmania and South Coast/Wollongong. I would have a few NYL teams as well.

With western Sydney projected to have another 1 million population by 2036 the potential is there long term.

The A-League fixture list was announced 3 weeks before the BBL fixture list. Not really sure that your conclusion is therefore valid. Cue the people who think the BBL was deliberately trying to undermine the A-League. ;) Factor in the BBL and the bushfires and no local team playing...and that crowd looks better and better. Rubbish. The BBL team is in Hobart, not Launceston....and even if it was in the same town how many football fans would be cricket fans and vica versa...not much I reckon also at least 2000 supporters were from melbourne...so I'd cap the crowd at 4k max, and who knows how many free tickets etc were given away for those 4k. As for the bushfires, last I heard they were in the country towns, not the centre of Launceston. For a top of the table clash, with high media coverage and in perfect weather = NOT GOOD ENOUGH

i feel that due to geographics and stadia, tasmania has fallen behind in the expansion race, and it may possibly be a better decision to create both a new hobart and launceston clubs to compete in the A2 or the tasmanian league, with the view that once one of them develops, they can be in the a-league in the future

The only problem is the FFA won't allow them to use James Boags as a sponsor due to that 'be the influence' shit. Thanks man. Who says whatever form the A2 eventually takes has to follow the "be the influence" shit? Obviously thinking a few light years ahead than practical here. Edited by paladisious: 14/1/2013 05:02:41 PM
