Have been meaning to post this for awhile but only just got around to it with 5 days to go, some friends of mine and me are going into the cider making business and have launched a pozible campaign to help get it started. If you are into cider and like it dry and made properly from just juice then it may be your thing. First batch is bottled and getting pastuerised and labeled next wednesday and then posted out to all those who have pledged asap. http://www.pozible.com/project/175254

No-one has Pear on tap (most places will only ever have Bulmers, which is okay). My local bottle shop has had those 500ml bottles on special for $3.20 for the last few times I've been in there. Got a 30% off last time as well since I bought 6 of them (3 pear, 1 apple, 1 blackcurrant I think, and 1 of another brand ginger beer to get the 30% to see how it was). Was good.

Rekordiling isn't cider, it's made with water, flavours and generic alcohol. Shouldn't be allowed to be labelled as cider tbh.
Most of the "big" brands are made from reconstituted apple concentrate, usually imported from china. Plenty of small cider companies popping up around the country now making proper cider that are worth trying.

Cheers, my sister in law who doesn't like overly sweet ciders isn't so keen on mine as it's to dry/tart for her so i think you should like it. Have you had Dr Pilkingtons cider? Another local one from SA is Sitting Ducks cider, http://www.sittingduckscider.com.au/ it's fairly dry and tart as well.

This first batch is being offered through the pozible campaign but the plan is to get it into some bottle shops and sell it online. When the pozible offer is finished we will see how many cartons we have left and start offering samples to bottle shops to get it out there. The second batch is getting prepped and hopefully will be done sometime next month.

I'll have to check them out. I drink cider as a beer replacement because of gluten sensitivity issues.
I'm trying to remember what's on tap at The Abbottsford Convent, it's probably the most tart cider i've had before.
I've tried a lot of smaller ones that I never remember the name of.

I spent too many years drinking hard liquor, all cider is sweet, too sweet. Even the dry and tangy are sweet. I've tried about 15 different brand and I get the same result. too Sweet.

Bought some drinks tonight. Did a variety because most of it was pretty cheap and I wanted to try various types.
Kopparberg Apple: Nice, I rate it.
Not cider, but Stones Ginger Beer. Always liked Ginger Beer, even when I was a kid with the non-alcoholic stuff so this was a nice flavour.
Koppaberg Elderberry & Lime: Wasn't a fan at first, but seemed quite unique. Wouldn't buy it again but wasn't bad.
Castaway: Bought it because it was cheap as shit, and it tasted like it. Bland, more like beer, crap aftertaste. Never buying it again.

OK, now that I have had 7 of them I feel comfortable reviewing The B Cider Companys TWO PINK LADIES
It's a very good first effort, and was well worth the investment. The crisp sharp mouth feel is exactly what I look for in a cider, although I feel like the clean apple flavour was missing. The high alcohol content helps!
I'll be honest, the first bottle I had was warm out of the box and only poured over ice and really not that pleasant. The 6 I drank tonight was after 24 hours of refrigeration and much improved.

I tried one new one just now. Bilpin Apple. At first I was like "what the fuck is this shit" but it's not too bad after going through a bit more.
My favourite so far is Kopparberg. The only new one I have that I haven't tried is strongbow and it's reputation precedes it so I'm not expecting much.

If you don't like beer like myself, once you've tried some of the more pricey ciders, you'll never ever go back to Strongbow unless you're at a restaurant and that's all they have. So so average.

Got bloated as and seriously seedy the next day. Though that may be because I was having a pint for every one else's jack and coke

I'm actually getting really over Somersby, they're too sweet and leave your teeth feeling furry.

So... Stella Artois do an apple cider, who knew? I don't drink it much, but my brother and Dad rate it massively.

If it's out here, it'll be being imported by Lion (Tooheys). Haven't seen it it my works bottleshop, but I'll keep an eye out for it at Dan Murphy's/BWS.
