I think it is time to ban the Roman Catholic Church.
It is a corrupt, money making business which fronts itself as a religion, but just exploits those who are conned into having faith in its fake religion.
It is a haven for child molesters and will continue to attract them with its rule that priests must be celibate.

So we live in North Korea now?

What gives you the right to want to ban any group and where can we draw the line once this dangerous precedence against freedom and democracy is set?

Good luck with that one! Might as well do an about face, walk up to a wall, and start headbutting it. Takes some photos and post them here for our amusement please.

Of course it is not going to happen but lots of things that should happen are never going to happen.

Why should a organisation which makes money by fraud be allowed to exist?
Why should a organisation which employees paedophiles and allows them molest children be allowed to exist?

No!

I mean you and Adolf are the same. You are advocating after all the for the banning of a religious institution that is adhered to by about 1 billion followers globally. What makes you think it is ok for you to insinuate such stupidity against the rights of so many people?

Persecution of Jews, now persecution of Roman Catholics.

You can't ban any organization or associate an organization just because they had individuals who allegedly sexually harassed or molested vulnerable children. Otherwise might as well ban all Education Departments around the country as well.

The vast majority of the Catholic Church does not condone this behaviour and are of course disgusted.

And you can't persecute an organization that is so important to about 30% of Australians and plays an important role in Australia's Irish roots.

I think it is time to ban Islam from Australia.
It is a corrupt, totalitarian extremist political ideology which fronts itself as a religion, but just exploits those who are conned into having faith in its fake religion.
It is a haven for paedophilia, homobhobia, anti-semitism and actual misogyny and will continue to attract people with such views with its' rigid doctrines.

^ Imagine the outrage from the same types of people going "Ban the Catholic church and seize its' assets!" if you went around saying this...

There are only two intellectually honest debate tactics: (a) pointing out errors or omissions in your opponent’s facts, or (b) pointing out errors or omissions in your opponent’s logic. All other debate tactics are intellectually dishonest - John T. Reed

That sounds like most religions tbh.

You have to treat all religions the same. You either allow them all or you ban them all (which is anti-freedom and would nearly be impossible to enforce). You can't pick and choose and ban the ones you don't like and keep the ones you do like.

Was he?

And what about all the Catholic Resistance Fighters in France and elsewhere.

And what about Saint Mary of Paris who was a Catholic Nun, and who converted to Orthodoxy and lied to the Germans saying she was a particular Jew so that the real one who was a Mother of 4 survived. She ended up at Auschwitz and in the Gas Chamber but was canonized as a Saint.

So let's get back to banning Catholicism then and Islam!

We are waiting!

How would you like to live in a country that bans your religion? How bad would that be? Won't they just go underground anyway? My religion was underground for the first 4 Centuries and from the 15th Century till the 20th century as we dodge mass genocides against our people. We are still around!

Why not ban the Cat's association? How about banning the Dogs association as well for crapping on the sidewalks (Disgusting stuff)?

How about we ban Conservative commentators as well for being against same sex marriage, abortion, and just for disagreeing with you.

How about we ban you from this forum for having a low IQ! After all, we are all dumber now for reading your posts!

I am not saying ban the religion of Roman Catholicism, I am saying ban the corrupt organisation behind it which has little to do with religion but is just a corrupt money making business which has accrued. Everyone is free to believe whatever religion they want but money making faith exploiting businesses should be banned.

The organisation is the religion. There really isn’t anything else. There is the organisational structure of the Church and its adherence. The sacraments are bestowed by the Pope for the Catholic Church and by the the Patriarch of Constantinople and Jerusalem for the Orthodox Tradition.

You can’t practice the sacraments without the authority of the Patriarchate (which was given to him by The Holy Spirit). If you do, it is unofficial and schismatic. The Orthodox Tradition has Apostolic Ascension from the Apostles. The Catholics also claim to have this but they split from the main body during The Great Schism of 1054 resulting in Orthodoxy having the only connection to the Apostles and Jesus Christ but the Catholics disagree with this saying they still have Apostolic Ascension.

It’s like Royalty. Jesus Christ being the true King and the Pope His representative for the Catholics and the Patriarchate for the Orthodox.

You can’t remove the “organisation” or ban it and get rid of it. Or say it is a money making enterprise. They have title to all the Churches globally and hence do have a lot of money which was raised through its adherence and hence belongs to the body or the Church for its various activities which also include massive charity.

It will always remain to the end of times. Or until the next coming of Christ and judgement!

The prophecy also states that before the next coming, the 2 Churches (Catholic and Orthodox) will re-unite by The Power of the Holy Spirit.

The Church is much larger than Pell, the Pope or any Government on earth.

Not that it'll ever happen because it's a stupid idea, however I'm just curious to know if you had it your way would you ban the Roman Catholic church or the whole religion, so basically every single Christian religion out there?

But seeing they won't anytime soon they should, at the very least, do away with their tax free status.

If the religions stopped funding Private Hospitals, aged care and respite centers, schools, and Early Learning Centers, the Australian Education system, Health System, Child Care, and Aged Care would be up shit creek even more than it is already.

Therefore, don't bet on it because the vast majority of their Activities go to funding community projects for the wider community to use and they give a lot to charity as well.

So won't happen.

Those countries do not tax religions either. Religions are tax exempt because they are non-profit organizations.

What they make is all invested in creating more infrastructure such as Private Schools, Hospitals, Medical Centers, Respite Centers, Aged Care Facilities, Child Care Centers and Early Learning Centers and also shelters for the homeless and battered or abused women.

Other money goes to the administrative running of these facilities, wages and maintenance and also to charitable Organizations such as Salvation Army etc.

You can't tax such an organization, and even if you did it would be fruitless because they won't show any profit anyway and hence will not pay tax other than GST when they buy or pay for services which they are not exempt from.

They would just send money to the administrative arms of the Vatican or Patriarchate.

Here is another thing many of you imbeciles are ignoring. Religions such as the Catholic Church and others are responsible for so many great things in this country when you consider their contributions to society. No other organizations contribute anywhere near as much as these religions do. So, your little crusade is fruitless and self defeating too.

The Catholic Church does much good as well, much more good than it does bad.  Shame the media only reports the juicy scandals.

Even if you don’t like the church, the idea that you can just throw the ban stick at it is complete fucking madness, yet a distinct possibility.

They contribute all right.  Contribute to the the abuse suffered by 10's of thousands of children in their care over decades if not centuries resulting in broken homes, wrecked families and marriages, suicides and dysfunctional relationships.  Not to mention the pyschological trauma inflicted on women who would 'burn in hell' should they get a divorce or wanted to use contraception or weren't 'chaste' or had a child out of wedlock.  How many ruined people have wasted their lives worrying in fear over the consequences of some bunch of bullshit written by desert dwelling arabs thousands of years ago?

Fuck off with your sanctimonious bullshit about all the 'good' they do.

If the church stopped existing tomorrow other organisations would fill the gaps left over without a doubt and the world would be better for it.

This dog hates Christianity that bad he'll simply blame everything on Christians and deep down inside he hates anyone who believes in God because according to him no one should believe. In his ideal world everyone would be a flop like him, otherwise they'd deserve to get locked up, oh but may I add he hates dictators and believes people should be free to believe in what they want, well except for Christianity.

Even poor bloody nuns.

And before you crap on about picking on the Catholic Church I am 100% positive that this sort of thing happens across most, if not all, religions.

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2010/apr/25/middle-east-child-abuse-pederasty

Filthy scum.

Contribute to the suffering of 10,000s of people. Are you serious.

The reverse is true. The Catholic Church and other religions offer thousands of hospital beds, educate hundreds of thousands of Primary and Seconday School students, look after thousands in Child Care Centers and Early Learning Centers, look after thousands of elderly and shelter hundreds of homeless and abused and make thousands of meals for the needy every day.

One more thing. I am not at all convinced that Pell is guilty. He is a scapegoat. If he was a Pedophile, there would be dozens of victims over a prolonged period and not just 2 Choir Boys which could be fabricated. He was found guilty on hearsay and an early jury found him innocent 10 to 2. Something isn't right here. I am not saying he can't be guilty. Clearly he could, but that is not something to hold against an entire religion. It is George Pell on rial, not Catholicism or Christianity in general.

Yes, the guy has an agenda because he blatantly disregards all the contributions from Christian Religions such as the Catholic Church, Anglican Church, Lutherans and Orthodox. If you literally ban them, then you wipe out a lot more than they care to think or worry about. Australian Education will be in tatters for a start.
