I seriously think Western United didn't do go down this path because they were scared nobody would turn up.

Macarthur South West United to hold community forum on February 28Local Sport Macarthur South West United's Josh Symons challenges Usain Bolt for ball possession at Campbelltown Sports Stadium in October. Picture: Dan Himbrechts/AAP“We’re a community club and need to get this 100 per cent right.”That’s the view of Macarthur South West United chairman Gino Marra as the club prepares for its inaugural community forum. The event will be held next Thursday at Campbelltown Catholic Club and gives residents a chance to have their input on the newest A-League club. The forum’s topics will include suggestions for the team’s nickname, logo and colours.Mr Marra said the forum was extremely important for building the club’s future.“We’ve said all along that we’ve got to be a club for the whole of south-west Sydney,” he said.“We’re a community club and need to get this 100 per cent right.”Macarthur South West United chairman Gino Marra In December, Football Federation Australia gave the green light for Macarthur South West United to become an A-League team. The new team, based in Campbelltown, will join Australia’s premier soccer competition in the 2020/21 season. The FFA also announced that Western Melbourne would join the A-League in the 2019/20 season. The club announced its nickname (Western United) and team colours (green/black) last week.Meanwhile, Mr Marra said there had been plenty of behind-the-scenes work at Macarthur South West United since December’s announcement.“We’re working on building an operational plan and a whole club philosophy,” he said.“We need a philosophy on what we want to stand for.”Campbelltown Council has been a big supporter of the club’s bid to become an A-League team.Mayor George Brticevic encouraged all Macarthur residents to attend next week’s forum and have their say on the new club.“These kind of opportunities don’t happen too often,” he said.“It’s up to all of us to embrace it and make this team a real success.”Cr Brticevic said it felt “very surreal” that Macarthur boasted its own A-League club.“Sometimes I stop, have a quiet moment and think ‘wow, we’ve really done it’,” he said.

+xif we are going with Rams White shirt with a shade darker white stripes and a maroon sash over the stripes. Black shorts White socks with Maroon tip. In their articles the club has repeatedly mentioned that they are to represent the whole of the south west. Would they use anything in their name that ties in with any of the 10 NPL clubs in the region?

Too scared to even have a fucking name these days. Next they will need to drop FC from names because it doesn't appeal to koalas

@gyfox, SD raiders are well tied in with the bid already, surely teaming up with Macarthur Rams would be wise, especially considering what they have at Lynwood park.

+x@gyfox, SD raiders are well tied in with the bid already, surely teaming up with Macarthur Rams would be wise, especially considering what they have at Lynwood park. Both SD Raiders and Macarthur Rams were formally supportive of the SW Sydney bid and I assume they are supportive of the combined bid that was successful. The link with the NPL clubs in the wider region is something the new club has said it will take up in meetings with the 10 clubs including Rams and Raiders. As for infrastructure the bid includes a tie with the proposed council centre of excellence for sport which includes training grounds and offices etc so I'm not sure Lynwood Park would serve much purpose for them long term. Hopefully more detail of what was included in the bid will come out in the Forums.

With the combined bid there are fans from both of those camps who had built up expectations. It will be interesting to see how the expectations are massaged into an agreed name and colours.

Awesome stadium, will be mint with a few upgrades. And to think that WSW could have split games between here, Penrith and ANZ.

+xSo is the Nix Syd game crowd any indication for the future of the new franchise? No its not. Youve got to remember Sydney FC hosted a game at Parramatta prior to Wanderers for a mediocre crowd. This will be the same thing.

South west bid on its own was to encapulate the Bankstown and Liverpool areas as well as Campbelltown. The name McArthur Liverpool fc should be the name really.
