+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xThis just showed up on the IP Australia website. Love the bevels but what's with the odd slopey bit that points to about 41 minutes past 3, neither here nor there. According to their website press release, this is what the logo means: In a stament released by the club on Tuesday, they reveal the design has been inspired by the aerial view of real estate development (rooftops) in Australia’s fastest growing corridor, borrowing architectural cues from the iconic West Gate Bridge – the gateway to the West.
The logo’s signature green colour symbolises freshness and the evergreen community of cultures residing and growing in the West.
But unlike many club logos, United’s breaks from convention of not being encased in a crest, which the club believes brings an “air of confidence”.
“The result is a minimalist and refreshing design which reflects the club’s bold, innovative and aspirational ambitions, both on and off the field,” Bisetto said.
At least that confirms what everyone has been thinking. The bid is all about real estate. Not football, like you would think, but real estate. Only a wanker in PR or marketing could come up with such bullshit. On par with Nike's explanation of the 'waves' inspiration on the Socceroos jerseys. Yep. I can see another Heart. i dont. when they own their own stadium they'll be a great addition to the a-league. they get all the money from ticket sales goes directly to the club. When is that going to happen? Are you sure its not pie in the sky? id believe it. come on dude they are building a city out of thin air. im sure they can make a stadium I hope you are right.

+xi wonder how it'll look on the actual playing kit. would it blend in with the black and green stripes? Probably going to have a horrible white patch sewn on.

Soulless.
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

+xReminds me of the Melbourne Heart logo. And that logo sucked balls. Fitting though you must admit. Carpe Diem as the 'Active Support'. Western United as the uninspiring name. Terrible logo to boot. There has never been a better symbol for a train wreck.

I just realised the white text in the heart logo was meant to represent a "H".

According to them they did. Have a read of the spiel here: https://www.a-league.com.au/news/western-united-FC-unveil-logoMostly the logo is the view of real estate rooftops from an aerial view. Their words not mine.

Seems that the Melbourne City Academy is being targeted, which goes against what they originally said, but if City won’t play them they might as well look elsewhere.
As for the logo, I don’t love it but don’t hate it either. Just doesn’t convey much. Funnily enough I thought it represented factory chimneys first time I saw it :)
i read the other day that WU might be setting up an interim training base at Caroline Springs. It’s a new complex but it will be hard to get a training complex that truly meets the needs of a professional set-up though for that period.
I did expect them to set up in Geelong for the 2 years, given they will be playing there, but it makes sense also to set up near the planned Tarneit complex at this stage too.

Google Earth shows there is a 4 pitch complex being built on Orbis Ave.

Wow look at all those rooftops, and they're all black too. Good for drawing all that global warming into the home. That logo designed itself really.

+xIt is the new home ground of Caroline Springs George Cross F.C. due to be completed in July. Why were they forced to change their name? I know they moved to caroline springs but couldn't they keep their original name

I daresay Caroline Springs (and Melton by extension) don't want any affiliation with Sunshine and the name change would have been part of the deal to allow them to move in. Only guessing though

The Sunshine George Cross juniors played under that name at Brookside Recreational Reserve (Melton Council) for around five years and many Melton councilors objected to this very strongly. The junior section even applied to play under the name George Cross only, but then the Federation rejected this. True many supporters miss seeing the 'Sunshine' part of the name go, but it is what it is when dealing with Councils and Federations.

Slightly old news, but Western Bulldogs are planning on modernising and upgrading Whitten Oval to 18k seats with a view to playing premiership games against low drawing teams by 2024. Obviously that's way too late for Western United while they wait for their own stadium, but maybe they could be accommodated for a game or two to test it out in the meantime? Bulldogs bold plan to return AFL to Whitten Oval

I got the Georgies on facey and a lot of the old players and fans were angry. It's like how south Melbourne tried to branch out and renamed themselves the lakes at one stage
