i wonder how it'll look on the actual playing kit. would it blend in with the black and green stripes?

Probably going to have a horrible white patch sewn on.

Soulless.

By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Fitting though you must admit.

Carpe Diem as the 'Active Support'.
Western United as the uninspiring name.
Terrible logo to boot.

There has never been a better symbol for a train wreck.

According to them they did. Have a read of the spiel here: https://www.a-league.com.au/news/western-united-FC-unveil-logo
Mostly the logo is the view of real estate rooftops from an aerial view. Their words not mine.

Seems that the Melbourne City Academy is being targeted, which goes against what they originally said, but if City won’t play them they might as well look elsewhere.

As for the logo, I don’t love it but don’t hate it either. Just doesn’t convey much. Funnily enough I thought it represented factory chimneys first time I saw it :)

i read the other day that WU might be setting up an interim training base at Caroline Springs. It’s a new complex but it will be hard to get a training complex that truly meets the needs of a professional set-up though for that period.

I did expect them to set up in Geelong for the 2 years, given they will be playing there, but it makes sense also to set up near the planned Tarneit complex at this stage too.

Google Earth shows there is a 4 pitch complex being built on Orbis Ave.

Why  were they  forced  to change their name? I know they moved to caroline springs but couldn't  they keep their original  name

I daresay Caroline Springs (and Melton by extension) don't want any affiliation with Sunshine and the name change would have been part of the deal to allow them to move in.

Only guessing though

The Sunshine George Cross juniors played under that name at Brookside Recreational Reserve (Melton Council) for around five years and many Melton councilors objected to this very strongly. The junior section even applied to play under the name George Cross only, but then the Federation rejected this. True many supporters miss seeing the 'Sunshine' part of the name go, but it is what it is when dealing with Councils and Federations.

Slightly old news, but Western Bulldogs are planning on modernising and upgrading Whitten Oval to 18k seats with a view to playing premiership games against low drawing teams by 2024. Obviously that's way too late for Western United while they wait for their own stadium, but maybe they could be accommodated for a game or two to test it out in the meantime?

Could imagine . I got the Georgies  on facey  and a lot of the old players and fans were angry. It's like how south Melbourne tried to branch out and renamed themselves the lakes at one stage
