If WU lost 6-0, well thats just embarrassing. Alot more to do than they thought. Not a good advert for a team wanting supporters.

It's only a friendly so you can't really analyse it too much, but WU defence looked terrible.

Good result from a Victory perspective, but you can't read much into 'closed friendlies' usually.

Always a shock when a 3 minute old team cant beat a 15 year old team

I wonder if EPL fans expect the newly promoted teams to win the title

Big difference is the cap. Once promoted, a club like Norwich isn't likely to immediately start matching the spending of Man City so the expectation is not comparable.
However in the HAL, WU are potentially spending more on players than any other club because they have that extra 400k to play with. That means exceptions are higher.

That parts not necessarily correct.

This was given to WU to level the playing fields as they won’t benefit from the loyalty bonus payments seeing as they are new. So essential it’s equal to most clubs who can leverage the offsets to a similar amount.

Western United close in on Berisha as final piece of jigsaw

A-League newcomers Western United have emerged as the hot favourites to land all-time A-League top scorer Besart Berisha.

The four-time Championship winner has also been linked with Melbourne City, Wellington Phoenix and Central Coast after returning from a 13-month stint in Japan.

However, it appears Berisha, 34, will be the final piece of the jigsaw for coach Mark Rudan ahead of the Melbourne club’s debut season.

The impending capture of the former Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Victory talisman would bring extra pizzazz to United’s derby with Victory, as well as providing proven goal power up front in a veteran double act with 36-year-old Scott McDonald.

The naturalised Australian citizen’s recent return to the country following his release from Sanfrecce Hiroshima initially sparked scant interest from A-League clubs due, in part, to him not kicking a ball for his club all year.

However, as other targets became unattainable, Berisha loomed even larger on the radar with Western United, due to their salary cap dispensations, able to offer the largest lure.

The fiery forward, who has 106 A-League goals from 171 appearances, plans to remain in Melbourne when he retires to set up a coaching academy for kids.

His frustrating spell in Japan brought just six appearances off the bench without scoring.

Horvat was on FNR yesterday, said they’re still on track to be in the stadium by season 3. Approx 20 month build time, still 5-6 weeks away from everything being ticked off and approved.

Sydney fc 2-1 defeated WU
Ninkovic 2 goals;
Diamanti 1 goal - rebound from failed penalty shot.
Don't have the crowd although, I hear it was decent.
Sydney played their top team, WU were more experimental.

If that's what Horvat said, then at least this a win for football.

At present, there is no record of any application being lodged for planning approval for the stadium.

It means that the Minister has been looking at the stadium application in secret, and it won't be a public process.

That is a REALLY BIG win for football, and almost unprecedented in this state.
