The Stadium (Land swap) is only a small part of the whole development although it is a late addition from what I can find.

it is a late addition. there was originally supposed to be a gym/leisure centre on the stadium site.

I'm pretty sure this is a public notice from the club.....

It’s public notice that they have investigated the site.

They have not yet started to ask for planning permission.

No formal request for any approval has been lodged with any planning authority.

After all this time, that is really concerning.

Wow, it's only taken them 15 months do a site characterization they've just started applying for planning permits. I wonder what the over/under is for getting the stadium built by 2030?

Again wrong. There's an update every month in the Wyndham magazine in people's letterboxes

Best thing for these WU frauds is to manufacture some sort of dignified exit in order not too cause too much more damage to the competition than what they’ve already have done. Let’s face it it’s been an absolute catastrophe from day 1 and it aint going to get better. They’re intentions were never about football rather a cheap land hustle from those idiots running the council. People aren’t fools, they can smell the bullshit a mile away. Too much negativity and rumours for it to be anything but a crock of shit of a franchise.

At very best the construction timeframe they sold to FFA is pure fiction.

"Shovel ready".  It wasn't soil they were shovelling, as it turns out.

How does that disprove the fact that it's been 15 months and they're still at the planning permits stage? As CS says, the absolute best-case scenario here is that the stadium is a few years behind schedule. The worst-case (and looking more and more likely considering the rumblings and the delays) is that this stadium is never getting built.

Maybe Victory fans should worry about their own club considering Western United are higher on the table, their stadium getting built or not has got jack shit to do with you.

Deflection. What is happening at WU right now will either be the dawn of a new era or more the same misgovernance that's plagued our game for decades. Everyone who wants the best for Australian football should care, hoping for the best but keeping two critical eyes open.

I'm pretty much the same here but a bit more optimistic. As a spectator they aren't about to fall over. Wyndham City Council is clearly onside with them. There is plenty to criticise (they certainly weren't shovel ready) but to me the good is still outdoing the bad. I certainly believe they will have a stadium (most likely later than 2022/23) and I certainly believe they will be the first team to own their own stadium. To me the signs are good. They may have overstated timeframes etc. but I feel any sane person would expect delays. When was the last time anything major was built in Victoria without delays?

The only thing I haven't liked so far is losing Chapman.

As someone who wants to see the stadium built and this club succeed, it is incredibly frustrating to see how they are handling the process.

They should have been at the stage of starting the planning approval process by now. At least lodge the paperwork. I know there is background work that needs to be done, but really, that shouldn't have taken this long, especially as they have the Council onside and the stadium was a major part of their bid. You would think a good amount of that preliminary work (well the cheapest parts of it) would have been done before they made their bid for a licence.

We are 15 months on from the grant of the licence, and they have not even started the planning approval process for the stadium.

 That is a worry.

In the mean time though they need to improve their communication and establish a single home ground, the travelling circus didn't work for WSW, SFC, wasn't gonna work for Southern United and is not working for WUFC.

I went to the footscray game and really enjoyed the atmosphere. Honestly they should move all their games there - as long as they play them during the day!

I think everyone started out optimistic but WU have done nothing positive since they got the licence and how anyone could not be drawn towards the more pessimistic side day after day is absolutely crazy.
They have literally done nothing to allay the fears of their supporters and fears of football supporters. Correction they said they were shovel ready a few months ago for that to be clearly bullshit.
Day after day there is more rumours of things going down at the administratively or football wise, its very unsettling.

However it can only be a good thing for football for it to go ahead,  just don't treat the supporters like idiots.

Whenever people complain about me being "SMFC" I can just point them to this thread for justification.
SMFC fans would see every team collapse if it means their own side getting ahead. The death riding and constant cynicism towards WUFC is pathetic. Persistent claims they are falling apart and that no new updates are being announced, while simultaneously ignoring updates as they appear .... in this thread.

It's tiring. No matter how many times I question my animosity towards SMFC, I just need to come in here and listen to you lot rant for 3 minutes before I'm back to where I started.

good post. but I'm not sure if they should play their games out of 1 stadium as I think they should keep a presence in Geelong and Ballarat until the stadium opens. but they should definitely play the bulk of their games out of 1 stadium. Maybe play 9 at Whitten Oval, 2 in Gelong and 2 in Ballarat. Maybe keep playing Victory in Geelong and City in Ballarat.

Whether you like it or not Albert Park has a significant football history before South Melbourne FC, and Australia has a football history before migration. We need to do more to recognise the sport's stories in the early 1900s and late 1800s.

It seems like the club is working hard and marketing to people who can't go to games frequently enough to build attachment or momentum.
In Victory's first year it was easy for people to go every week as casual fans and build a connection.
WUFC's frequent, and distant, home game travel doesn't make this possible.

What purpose does the Geelong and Ballarat precense serve?
Will they be travelling to Tarneit for games?
I don't know, but I suspect they won't.

How many people from Wollongong travel to SFC games?
How many people from Gold Coast travel to Brisbane games?
I suspect not many.

If I was running WUFC I would be playing all men's home games at Whiten Oval and cycle future W-League and Y-League games 50/50 between George Cross and Werribee.

I would also try to establish social club activities between Werribee and George Cross so that fans can come have a drink, socialise and meet the players every training night, W-League game and Y-League game.

If you know Melbourne's west well enough you would know those answers, so I am assuming you don't. Tarneit is exactly halfway between Melbourne and Geelong. Tarneit stadium will be 30 minutes by train or car from Geelong. Ballarat is a little further away, but the link is that you have to travel through the west and over the Westgate Bridge to get to Melbourne from Ballarat. The Football culture in Ballarat is bigger than people think and it’s clearly a target audience to tap in to with decent expected population growth in the next 10-15 years. Why do you think the Western Bulldogs AFL team is playing games out of Ballarat for now?

Anyway, if WU end up getting 2,000-3,000 rusted on members from Geelong and Ballarat going forward, then playing games there to begin with is a worthwhile endeavour. I have friends who live in Ballarat who became WU members because they're playing games there.
