Going to be great when the stadium gets built and get decent crowds. Big FU to the haters of WU!

Dont throw the "big FU" around prematurely buddy.  2022 is not that far away.

Haha im still doubtful, but you just never know.

Ill be the first to eat my words if they manage to build a 15k stadium in time for 2022 or even 2023 season.
Shit Ill eat my words if they are even still around for the 2023 season.  My advice to the hard-core WU fans is "don't get any tattoos just yet"

This stupid club has just announced their home games against city and victory will be at AAMI park to improve their attendance obviously. Also will play a game or two in Tasmania. I don’t complain often but this is bloody disappointing it’s a waste of an away fixture I’d rather go to Ballarat or Geelong for a game.

I want expansion to be successful but this club has been nothing short of a shambles off the field since paying the most for a license.

Fancy making a decision to try and improve attendance. I cant believe how they don't think of city fans like yourself before making a decision. I recall a club moving their hole training base to the other side of the city.....why?

Should just change name to Victoria United, play home games at aami, docklands, Ballarat, Geelong, knights stadium, lakeside, Olympic village etc...if you’re going to be a travelling circus you may as well pretend like your team represents the whole joint.

Buddy, Melb City Guy is the most staunch A_league fan out there (ffs the guy has memberships to six or seven clubs just to help the league) and if he thinks this is a dick move then guess what.... it is. Nothing to do with covid, nothing to do with improving attendance, no consideration for their 15 fans, this is just a cost saving exercise... These c@nts are trying to run off the smell of an oily rag  until they can sell a few hundred properties to at least recuperate some of the losses....

Would love to welcome them at Lakeside but I dont think Pehlivanis and co can afford to pay too much... Somers Street was too dear for them,  I dont think any of them even know where OV even is, maybe Johhny A but he would be ashamed to front up and ask.

Could be the Sydney Olympic of the A-League with all these home grounds.

I don’t mind them playing matches at AAMI Park this season, but next season they will have to look elsewhere.

Getting the stadium started is a key to getting traction, just as I feel Melbourne City getting a stadium in Dandenong is the key to maximising the value from the move to the South-East.

Western United playing in Tasmania is a step too far though. Find a way to play a game at one of the 3 home grounds they are already going to have this season.

Your definitely NOT my enemy dude, its an internet forum..... who cares what we say or do?
This thread is theirs indeed but apart from 1 or 2 fans of other clubs do you see any passionate Western United people actually giving a f*ck?
Are their ANY Western United people apart from old Yosemite Sam and that middle aged tradie looking dude with his baby that appear in all of their website images?
I think my criticism of both their dodgy bid and their lack of acting on the promises they made for that dodgy bid are justified. Its been more than 24 months since they where awarded a license that could have gone to a more deserving group or club .... Where is their fabled stadium?????

Your bitterness is deep.

Get over it. WU were the chosen ones. Selection went through the hands of two FFA’s (new and old).

But think of it this way.

Imagine how bad the FFA considered the other alternatives. LOL

In a resort somewhere

Thank you! I can look past all the other things the stupid name, the lack of stadium, the lack of fans or any real momentum as a club because Geelong away was one of the best a league games I went to now we don’t even get that

Can't see Western Utd playing out of AAMI Park as a problem. Its not unusual for multiple Clubs to play out of one stadium due to where Melbourne has invested in its major facilities, the CBD.
We currently have 10 AFL Clubs playing out of two stadiums in Melbourne.
Historically we have had multiple teams play out of Olympic Park.

Lots of other reasons to whack Western United over the head, but this is not one of them. If for no other reason than the FFA FAILED in their due diligence when approving the Licence bid.

In all seriousness, why continue with this Western facade? Just call it Victoria United and get on with the circus. As someone else mentioned Sydney Olympic did it in the nsl. As it stands this lot don’t represent anything, they’re never going to step foot in Tarneit we pretty much know this. Why not just become Victoria? It’s not like they’re going to have their license stripped if they do as they please now. They could be like the globetrotters and tour every part of the state. Hell they would probably get more fans.

yeah and its fucking shit.

Anyway City are going to move eventually mate. You don't have to keep up this charade so that people can't shit on South joining with the dumb argument of "then there will be 3 clubs in the inner city"

Victoria Patriots perhaps??

West Melbourne Utd sounds complete.
The issue with trying to go too far west is that Geelong will Only embrace a team named just that, Geelong as they are a seperate city.
Mind you, they are very Afl and may not do much embracing, more like social distancing ultimately.
WU are mirroring Southern Expansion that ended up losing out to Macarthur fc with regard to stratergy.
Southern wanted to encapsulate not only St George and the neighbouring Sutherland shire, but stupidly tried to fit Wollongong in under their umbrella as well!! Add Canberra while your at it then. Wollongong was Never going to accept that.
Western got in but for their long term viability, they should market to West of Melbourne, there are many supporters to be found there, forget too far west as in  Geelong and Ballarat.
It is no secret WU's approved Stadium will be in the west of Melbourne, those alot further west know it and if they want to support them regardless, they will.

Of course.
The concept initially started as Victoria patriots.
It seems that’s why the Western Victoria catchment was the compromise.
But logic tells you it just wouldn’t work.
As you said, same with the southern bid from NSW.

Imagine how bad it is, and how terrible you must feel as a person that you have to defend what you know is a worthless bunch of money grubbing anti football parasites that are actually going to be the straw that breaks this plastic camels back. All so you can lord it over a bunch ethnic soccer clubs. Mine especially considering your malignant anti Hellenic views.
Get over it?.... not likely. The only thing that went through the hands of two FFAs is money... the whores.

Stop the presses!!!!! With Bunnings on board as a sponsor they can now send Berisha and Diamantino down to get bags of cement and some plastic chairs, in Horvat's grey Ferrari. Maybe their Western Wembley will get built by 2025 after all and all their fans were rignt.

They parted ways with Probuild and have a new shirt sponsor.
The local government are going to fund it using the concept 'value capture.' There is a whole right up about it, idea is to start profiting off the project once its in full operation over a long period of time and the project helps stimulate the economy along with other building projects within Victoria.

Local government has granted them the land, I don't think they are funding the building of it.

Local government's spokeswoman Kate Roffey said clearly that Wyndham Council along with WU will pay for it.
The concept is called,,,,wait for it...'Value Capture.' It will be another building company, there are many out there in Victoria!
So much ignorance and negativity around the place. I hope people are ok out there.
