State leagues clubs will never be A League clubs. It's a question of money really.

Expansion talk seems off the agenda lately, as does the NSD.
So many statements of intent are made and then silence, but the priority is likely getting things back on track first.
We all want to see growth, but it’s unfortunately going to take time and even more patience.

Pretty strange comment: that state league clubs can never be A-league clubs. If by that they mean that your average state league club will never be able to afford the $20 million license fee they will be slugged if they try and get themselves promoted, well, that will probably be true for the vast majority. If they meant that there will never be P&R in our lifetime, well, there might be a fair bit of truth to that as well. So maybe there is some sense in the comment.

I was having a look at the make-up of the Serie C earlier today, just out of interest. Check out this list of the current clubs in the Serie C, Group C (Central and Southern Italy). In particular, note the huge disparity in stadium capacities. At one end you have Bari with 58k and Palermo with 36k, at other end you have Virtus Francavilla with 2k and Bisceglie with 3k. Does it worry the Italians? No, not in the least, and yet we seem to get overly worried about small clubs working their way into our currently non-existent 2nd tier.

Sorry mate the Aleague clubs want a different kind of "Monopoly" on football in this country.. Keep your grubby spaghetti munchers away from the purity of the assimilated masses.

Some strange comments on that facebook post.
1. Bari and Palermo are only in the Serie C because of being demoted because of financial breaches. Yeh, but both Bari and Palermo have been in the Serie C plenty of times before, so that's irrelevant. They are there.
2. Can't make comparisons because the A-League is only 20 years old. So football has only existed in this country for 20 years? Not just that, but the state leagues have long had promotion and relegation, it's not as if it's a new concept in Australia.
People constantly making dumbass excuses. The question is why??

Football has been going for over 120 years in this country. The hierarchies have transparently been lazy, including the likes of the FA and APL. Cannot do more than one thing at a time. They pander to state federations, cannot stop the corruption and the fact they don't tread on the toes of all associations, the heads of football should of squashed the toes of those holding back the different divisions, V'Landys style. Need to get things done. Too much patience and apathy.

Don't worry about expansion. call it now..... its dead. There where a thousand people max watching McVictory tonight... its done. The 25 ugly c#nts swearing and throwing bottles on to the field will be the straw that breaks the "mainstream all inclusive, multiethnic" camel's back. Poor Paulie, can't blame the dirty Greeks at Hellas for this one eh?

Is it a harbinger for what is lurking around the corner for the A-League? Well, it might be, we'll know for sure when we know what's happening with the broadcast deal, which ends in a couple of months.

+xJust keep fighting your own imaginary war on cloud nine Monoethnic, you’re doing well to be divisive. Thanks for the strangely mixed metaphor Pauline... I'm actually sad for the state of soccer in this country as it now stands, not on cloud nine as you imply. I mean sure a big part of it is a sense of justice for the way "old soccer" was vilified and racially discriminated against for the past 16 years, but also sadness because this new plastic league brought thousands of new fans to the round ball game we love and if it dies they will be lost to the code again. There is no war anymore you moron, we lost it 16 years ago and now you are about to lose it too... I'll have my shitty little state league club, at least for the foreseeable future there will always be a state league for us to play in ... what about all the "new football"? Who will you be supporting in 2023? ... yeah yeah I know, don't bother replying to me anymore.... something something Greek flags and flares.....
