Just a lucky first goal? You don't think, a bad back pass, a bad clearance, and the ball coming off the post straight back to the attacker is a even luckier second goal? It serves Tottenham right for doing absolutely nothing with the ball in the second half. Dominated possession and never wanted to take a shot, or cross when they had ample time and space to do so, it's like they were scared of losing the ball and it cost them the game.

Spurs typically struggle when opponents park the bus. Bissouma, Holjberg, Sarr, Skipp etc are all similar players who can retain possession but can't pick a pass. There is no creativity in Spurs at the moment, that typically comes from Maddison and Bentacur, those are the players who can unlock a packed defense, but they are both out injured. Also Richarlison is garbage, all the goals he scored for Everton were tap ins and headers, I think they just aimed for his head and that's why he had a decent scoring record for them, but he isn't Spurs quality. So Ange is stuck playing his style which he won't budge from but he doesn't have the depth or quality to convert possession into goals. He needs a full transfer window to buy multiple strikers and attacking midfielders and then and only then will the goals flow.

It looks they are in free fall with end in sight especially that they really missing a player like Maddinson who brings that creativity which is clearly lacking in the team.

I thought both wingers Johnson and Kulusevski were quite poor, especially the later who has been impressive but he's decision making in the final third was really poor today.

I knew West Ham would give them the ball and to Spurs credit they did very well in controlling the game but West Ham scored a lucky first goal and I knew the momentum would change after that.

They got Newcastle next, they lost to Everton which is surprising but it wont be easy for Spurs until January.

I also have a feeling Ange is going to blow up the entire squad if Daniel Levy gives him the blessing to make big changes because some of the players dont suit he's style of play.

mate no matter how many he buys in the Jan window to learn a new environment, style of play will take sometime depending the calibre of player/s they can buy.
Worse there is no time to wait in the EPL as you well know.
Its on every single game no where to hide.
I hope for him alot being an aussie but damn hope they do a Toffee and beat Toons but they need the win even more with the pressure on them more than ange and spurs.

I said before but what they're playing is not Ange-ball as it was at Celtic The players don't get it yet. They're confused it with playing possession for possession's sake.  That's not Angeball

Maybe it doesn't work at a higher level, like when in Europe the past two seasons.

Lots of good ball movement and they just struggled to put it away and West Ham with some good defence. Silly error for the second goal so that's something repetitive that needs cutting out. The Richardson header was a massive chance.

I think the majority of Spurs fans are so glad the team just goes forward. The risk passing the ball in risky areas for the sake of it isn't something that should be happening. Injury returns and some strong winter transfers should see things solidify.

The interesting thing to me in this barren stretch is that there tends to be a lot of early goals, and then they fall away

Barring 2 good Toon chances created 1st half it’s all Spurs and Son 2 assists and a lot of good play.
Lets see they carry on 2nd half its in their hands.

63 in and after toons regathering themselves post HT gaining more possession it was looking like a recovery But Poro provides a rippa cross bang on of all players Richarlson puts away for a double !
3up 25 to go.
Son just missed another difficult chance.
Impressed by young Johnson on the right flank.

A solid response by Spurs. What a league with Everton reaction and Luton so much nuisance value. A shame they've not gotten draws against the top teams

Haha I fell asleep last 10 but it was a given.
agree very solid game - they out played out enthused and converted but they also missed 3/4 should have been banked.
Glad for Ange for the pressure was mounting.
yer what a league don’t care what others think money and eurosnobs.
Luton giving city a run.
Toffees recovering last 2 great results.
Villa is the form club atm.
Fulham scores 10 last 2 games.
How can you can not enjoy watching such a competitive league.

From a neutral stand points just imagine if Arsenal Liverpool and City hadn't turned those re ent results around for wins. It'd be even tighter.

don't forget Arsenal lost though of the 3 above they would have gained a minor gap if won but their loss closed the top up.

Listenning to commentry through the game they said Toons were 11 points behind before the Spurs loss run - even though they lost its 4points now.

It's a simple game.
The PL is like all the other competitions, there is 11 players out there playing for their club against another 11 players.
After 90 mins plus stoppage time their is a result.
After 38 games & every club plays each other twice, Man City win the PL.

Kid was unlucky his cracker of a shot hit the underside of the post and bounced out... Would have been a gollazzo if it was 2 inches lower....

Richie's second goal was a bit of a perler too mate..... Love him or hate him the guy can score a pretty goal but he is a confidence player and needs to "feel the love".....

Having Son and Madison supporting him will rejuvenate his career I reckon.

Richie also didn't time 2/3 cross's that just needed the boot to go in might I add.
I still don't rate him due to his low % of goals but his work rate as Ange mentioned was very good this game.
Toons looked as if they were a yard behind all game, even that ex toffee pest Gordon who has been one of their keys players to date was off his game as well.
Something just didn't seem right for them fromt he beginning, sure Spurs energy had them ont he defensive but they just weren't there like they have been.

At this stage City has been shaky and not the team they have been but I suppose winning the treble has applied alot of pressure and possibly mentality is iffy a little And teams are catching up might I add.
KDB is bigger loss than you think, he's a outlier compared to all of them in that squad, I normally rate BSilva but right now when they need him he's not like KDB pulling off a worldy or a massive great ball set up for a goal.
Long way to go and Pep will have them reset and get winnign run again no doubt about it but they have more than 1 challenging them this season.

Villa imo is better than Arsenal actually, damn impressed these last 2 wins and how they have performed prior as well.

How good is it to have a season where, realistically, 3-4 clubs can clinch the title?
My early call:
Liverpool
Spurs
Villa
City
Newcastle
Arsenal
Brighton
Man Utd

And then ..... EVERTON.......

Good first 30 mins, but the next 60 were hard to watch today. Felt like plenty of missed/intercepted passes and the front three looked fatigued so struggled to be compact/press as a unit. I'd say it was one of the hardest, if not the hardest, Tottenham games to watch this season.

Good to get the 3 points though.

Romero out for another 5 weeks. Bissouma, Son and I think Sarr of to tournaments.

You'd hope here that Spurs will bring in some signings right away, which should be happening to increase quality over quantity. Tough to get them integrated so fast but that bit if extra quality could limit the damage over the next 6 weeks. Fixture list is manageable.

Poor day for Spurs. Their defence is much worse without Romero. I really hope they've got transfers lined up for the winter window. Add tournament absentees and the squad is decimated.

Spurs weren't themselves for the first 80 minutes. They struggled to connect passes and lacked the intensity with the ball and without the ball (in their press, winning challenges and intercepting loose passes). Brighton on the other hand, were very good with the press from the front which made Tottenham uncomfortable and didn't allow them to settle into their game. It all seemed to click for Tottenham after Brighton's 4th goal. Unfortunately, they were 4-nil down with only 10 minutes or so to play. I really liked Lo Celso.

Tottenham looked tired for most of it, their subs helped them which is why they got back into the game but their lack of depth through the injuries is really telling.

They got a game on Sunday, so a short turnaround.
