+x+x+x+x+x+x+xFor any of the Ange tactics knocking he isn’t on the pitch to win 50/50’s second balls etc and being half a yard behind. Too s can play like that many times to the best have seen the exact play countless times. Where was the spurs players hunger aggression and being first to the ball - talk about being out pressed and pressured to error - pretty simple stuff there to any top flight game. As a player it’s in your own head to beat any opponent first and foremost then play to your gaffas instructions. 100% Spurs looked cooked before they set foot on the pitch .... Ive gotta say I wasnt a huge fan of the referring ... let some pretty nasty tackles go through and then booked VDV for pretty much the same tackle..... played a huge chunk of the game on a yellow and I reckon was the reason for the loose marking in the box..... . Anyway, to comment on last night.... your point about Spurs players applied to ours as well.. WTF, it just seemed like there was an invisible wall infront of the Palace goal..... Toons when on song really can play like a top 2 team, friggin Gordon hunts down pray like a lion - such a unassuming good player since leaving the toffs. Leads from the front, and Isak is brilliant frontman. I was happy with the aggro thought it went both ways, every game at St James park is similar. No matter VDV on the yellow, whole backline couldn't cope many times. yer were cooked and I think mentally more than anything else - oh throw in the countless lack of finish the last month. I'll give kudos to the Eagles but damn talk about lady luck invisible wall you name it, we couldn't beat a feather by the end of the game :( Only bright thing is that arse lost as well, was always gonna be city but had some hope. Why do you call Newcastle, “ Toons “ ? My Newcastle born mate who moved here in his early 20’s long ago always calls them the Toons and it’s stuck since. i know refers to the toon army and how town is pronounced. Hardly know anyone call em magpies in fact none here. https://lowerblock.com/articles/toon-army-why-are-newcastle-called-toon-army/ Fair enough. You are the first person that i have ever heard refer to them as this. Most of the Geordies i know, just stick to Magpies or " The Toon " .( singular ) You’re right that I should just say Toon mind you that’s my bad. My mate is the only Geordie I know from there. Dont worry mate, we ALL know who you are referring to ... just dont mention Ross Counties (plural) :)

possibly worst thing to have Arsenal and City knocked out, they will be raring to go now for the title.
He might take some heavy defeats in the next few weeks.

+xHowe didn't teach him a lesson. Newcastle should have been 2 down inside the first 20 minutes if Tottenham had anyone not named Werner finishing. Then van den Ven had a mare of game slipping at crucial moments for 2 or 3 of the goals. It’s individual player errors that have been his undoing for the most part. His squad is mediocre. Van den Ven had an absolute shocker. He slipped for the first two goals, but it was mainly due to very poor positioning and having to scramble desperately at the last moment. Atrocious play from him both times. And then for the third, he was ball watching and didn’t make a challenge or even get close. It was the single worst performance from any Spurs defender this season.
In general though, it’s laughable how easy it is to beat the high line. All you need is an average ball in behind and the whole system falls apart because they essentially defend with just two players and the full backs + the midfield are almost always stranded far up the field. It’s just so simple to play against and Ange’s stubbornness and lack of plan B is really starting to work against him. You simply have to be able to defend solidly at that level. They just don’t have the calibre of midfielder capable of keeping the ball at the other end all the time, which seems to be a pre-requisite for Ange’s style. You can’t always rely on van den ven chasing people down for last ditch tackles, as was amply demonstrated in this game.
They have huge problems up forward too. Son looks lost when leading the line against big and aggressive defenders sitting in a low block. They’re really missing Richarlison, and he’s far from the long term solution himself. Werner is just pathetic.

Ange is gonna insist on playing out and defensively (if they are on their toes and stop farkin turning the ball over in midfield) so it will be an end to end sorta game... Hoping for a cheeky last minute SOn screamer to take the points off Arse. Im actually a fan of Ben Davis, he slips up defensively but also look like he gives 110%... "Pants" is magnificent... *clap *clap :)

Dont worry about the Toffs, Villa and Wolves are the Red's potential bananaskins... I think.

Davis looks better as a CB than an inverting FB. Hope Ange tries a back 3 with what is available.... less chance of Van Der Ven getting his knickers in a twist.

Villa give up a 2 goal lead to draw with Chelsea and Chelsea had a winner taken back.
The derby is going to be something else I feel.

3:0 Arsenal on 38. Stupid own goal off a corner. A nice counter without press and then an easy header in the 5 yard box. Just horrible defending while Spurs have had some half chances in attack.

Slow start by Spurs, apparently they haven’t played in a couple of weeks which probably explained why but Arsenal look the goods to win the title.
Arteta has done an incredible job, what’s it with Spanish coaches dominating leagues? Xabi Alonso doing incredible things for Bayer Leverkusen as well!

Arsenal are a world class team who took their chances and Tottenham have a massive problem with set pieces. However, they fought out to the end and made a game of it. For mine, that non-penalty on Kulusevski decided the game. Any other player would have fallen down like a pack of spuds and the ref has no choice but to award the pen.

The Spurs have a lack squad turnover.
Having a number of players on your roster who should have been moved on years ago is a big issue.
Lack of competition for places breeds complacency. The football on display shows that.
This is a monumental task for Ange, because the pathway is clear, but the lack of investment from the club will eventually be his demise (in my opinion).
Same ol' Spurs.

I could see it coming weeks and weeks ago. Alas I'll be happy being back in CL and we got 1 tin cup and rebuilding. I was actually impressed on the Spurs recovery late 2nd half. They nearly pulled off a draw for Arse we're being put on the rack. Considering Ange has a bitza squad the so called title contenders aren't that good imo. I'd like to see them finish P5 worse case scenario.

Same ol' Spurs. You're right. Another 1-2 transfer windows won't do the job. The squad isn't anywhere near where it needs to be. They need a starting striker, winger and DM to begin with. Then they need backup players to put pressure on established starting 11. Udogie, Vicario, VDV and Porro are excellent players, but better backup players are needed to keep them on their toes. It will be interesting to see if Lucas Bergvall is good enough to make the senior squad next season or whether he'll be loaned out. The kid is super talented.

he really desperately needs a proper tricky winger Werner/Kulu are just too predictable... Solomon barely played this year so maybe he might provide more? but yeah the young swedish kid should be given a crack in pre-season.
