Milne to discuss crowd abuse with AFL

STEPHEN Milne will meet with AFL football operations boss Mark Evans next week to discuss the importance of stamping out abuse from fans.

Milne, who is regularly subjected to unsavoury remarks from fans, revealed Evans had inititated the chat after comments the Saints star made on The Sunday Footy Show, last month, to organise the sit down.

Following the Adam Goodes racism row, Milne brought to light the need for the AFL to be stronger in eliminating all sorts of hurtful abuse hurled by fans towards players.

Milne admitted while he "loves a good a sledge", fans should be respectful and not cross boundaries when being vocal in the stands, particularly with kids in the crowd.

"I'm the first to admit I love a sledge and getting the boys up and try to get the opposition off their game, but there's places you don't go and it should be the same for supporters as well," Milne told 3AW on Monday afternoon.

The Footy Show host Garry Lyon apologised to Milne on behalf of the program, for glamourising footage of Milne being abused by a female Collingwood fan while lining up for goal in the clubs' round six match.

Milne also said there were times where his father and close friends had almost come to blows because of the abuse thrown his way.

Former Essendon champion and recent hall of fame inductee Matthew Lloyd suggested Milne could be a "poster boy" for helping the AFL to educate fans about what they can and cannot say in the crowd.

The Saints goal sneak has been on record as saying he tries to ignore the rampant vilification directed his way most of the time, but is worried that his family or other innocent crowd members might hear the insensitive comments.

Milne said he was not sure what the meeting with Evans would entail, but he was going in there with an open mind.

Interest mid-season ratings stats.

Essendon ahead of Collingwood on both Fox and FTA.

GWS ahead of both the Bulldogs and Port on Fox ratings.

Well those 4 teams are pretty much guaranteed to have their games shown in their home cities. North are competing for FTA coverage in a much more saturated market.

Ok then, Carlton; none, Essendon; 1, Collingwood; 1, Melbourne; 1, Hawthorn; 1.

Yeah, those clubs have a larger support base, but now the fuck are North Melbourne supposed to grow their support base when they're SO FUCKING FAR behind the 8 ball? It's infuriating.

Yeah in Brisbane we get each Lions game instead of whatever match is shown at the similar slot in the other states. Was the same living in northern NSW we got the Swans every week.

Earlier this year we had a question about Supercoach - hopefully, everyone took my advice and locked the Jaeger bomb in as an absolutely must have - no questions.

Those who did, are on the verge of cashing in big time.

We now come to an interesting part of the season.

It's the 3rd bye, and a plethora of midfield stars are out of action: Ablett, Pendles, Swan, Watson and the Jaeger Bomb.

It's crunch time for all super coach players - do we cash in the Jaeger bomb now for Tommy Mitchell (and release a few hundred grand in profit), or do we hope he continues pushing towards a 100 pt average?

Big, big questions.

The correct choice will set you up for the remainder of the season.

Nah, That wouldn't be enough. I bet they paid that guy to rape and kill Jill Meagher so there'd be a higher profile case to take up news space. That seems the sort of the thing the AFL would do.

I cashed him in about a month ago before he started going down and upgraded to Ablett for a midfield of: Ablett, Swan, Kennedy, Selwood, Deledio, S. Mitchell, Priddis, Hodge, and T. Mitchell and Martin on the bench. I got Deledio in this week to cover Murphy, would have preferred to get Watson in but I can't risk it with the bye, but I'll definitely upgrade one of Hodge or Priddis for him next week.

It's all well and good to have a snide response, but when the police investigating were allegedly St Kilda fans who 'misplaced' evidence and files...It's a pretty bad look.

A bad look sure, for the police.

Trying to claim the AFL paid people, or somehow tried to fuck with the case? Get off it. You couldn't sound like more of a bitter fool if you tried.

After the AFL said a couple of weeks ago that they have their office swept for bugs, it doesn't exactly help their defence with the suggestion that they have something to hide.

That said, if they were going to bribe the police over Milne, then why did they hang the likes of Fevola and Jurrah out to dry?

I reckon assault charges are probably a bit easier to sweep under the rug than 4 counts of rape, y'know?
