The second tier was half empty and the bottom wasn't even full. What is going on?

MCG also looked a bit empty but then again it's a huge stadium. I'm not use to seeing seats after the Liverpool match. ;)

What? He means that even with the top tier empty, theres still not enough to fill the bottom two tiers. I see, disappointing for two Melbourne clubs. Geez JoFFA!!

So the Essendon chairman walks with the drugs report close and a week of who said what to who and when, interesting.

Melbourne the sporting capital of the World where 60% of members do not even bother to turn up to watch their team play in the world's best AFL competition. Melbourne will be lucky to get that next time, they are a joke. Too many teams too many meaningless games and the gap between the good and bad is only getting bigger.

Safe to say its been yet another rough week for my club. Honestly don't blame him for going, surprised he's lasted this long.

Besides publicity factor, why the fuck are GWS chasing Buddy?
Cameron is a dead set freak, is already an absolute beast at 20 and will be a far better player in a few years time, Patton will be quality too. They'd be far better off chasing a gun midfielder like Dustin Martin.

Gotta agree Fredsta. Those two up forward with a quality midfielder supplying the ball would be something.

Hird won't quit ,he has too much pride and belief in himself . The board would have to ask him to step aside or sack him ,which it won't as a lot members will be pissed

Probably not. Maybe one of them could be turned into a key defender - and Buddy is pretty mobile and covers plenty of ground - he's as much a floating half forward as a key position forward - plus he'd bring in spectators - known key forwards have always done well in the Sydney market.

Talk in the papers up here, that we'll be going hard after the number one pick to get Boyd.

My biggest gripe with Buddy is that his kicking from set shots is actually below average but it's excused by his mercurial ability from open play. From what I've seen of Cameron this year he's a better kick from the set shot and he's already amassing quite a highlight reel with his ability to snap.
I'd say already their skill sets are close to equal, although I agree that Buddy involves himself in the build up play far more effectively and displays a higher work rate.
I doubt they'll take Boyd, haven't they already said they'd look to trade the number one pick?
I just question whether Buddy is worth the obscene amount of money it will take to sign him when you consider Cameron is having a far better season and will be a better in a few years time, and add in the potential that Patton has shown, imo it's the one area they don't need strengthening. Targeting a classy established midfielder to help get it into the forward line seems a far bigger concern.

Given that buddy is probably the biggest name in the league other than Ablett you've got to think he'd be worth it for them from a merchandising perspective.

The cost will be much higher than most teams will be willing to accept - GWS will want a 22 year old already close to 100 games - there aren't many of them - even fewer which clubs will let go.

Targeting a classy established midfielder to help get it into the forward line seems a far bigger concern. GWS have publicly expressed interest to trade the no. 1 pick - those within the industry doubt that it's a genuine interest - the price tag will be beyond pretty much every club. For example, Carlton would probably have to give up a Kreuzer or Gibbs PLUS a draft pick - and even then GWS would have severe doubts about it. Clubs like the bulldogs and Saints have no one to trade with. GWS have stacks of classy midfielders who will be cherry ripe next season. Their biggest need is tall defenders (like most teams in the comp), and yes, they could do with an extra ruckman - Brogan likely to finish up this season.

Gotta say, well done to the saints last night. Between when I put the game on and full time they scored a whole 6 points to Geelong's 94.

Yeah it was one or the other. Either way the club is crumbling, and Dean Robinson is supposed to be doing a paid interview on 7 on Monday. Either way, I'll still be there.

Nobody at the club is infallible. And any Essendon fan who thinks otherwise is either kidding themselves or stupid.

As for the final paragraph I completely agree. North Melbourne, Melbourne, Western Bulldogs appear to be dying to make way for soulless franchises like GWS, GCS, and Port who are all appear to be failures.

So if Hird is found guilty of a systematic doping program, does he get a life ban?

I wouldn't say North Melbourne are dying. They actually turned a profit the last two seasons and they're headed in the right direction. Start putting together a few W's and more fans will show up. They're in the same position Hawthorn were in maybe 6-7 years ago.

I agree their off field position is gradually getting better, on field they've just had a horror season but they have the list and the ability to be competitive against anyone on their day, it's just unfortunate for North that they can't seem to run out four quarters against the best sides.

They're a young group. Things not quite working out for them early in the season really took the wind out of their sails. If they can pick themselves out a second target up front and a second defender (Looking at LeCras and Hunt respectively) in free agency then they could be a legitimate contender next season.
