Woosha's gone :( Thanks for everything John. Obviously this year was pretty poor, but any club would struggle with players the caliber of Waters, Wellingham, Naitanui and Hurn out for long parts of the season.

TBH can only blame the injuries for so much - we had the same problem last season and the year before yet still made it to within a game or so of the Grand Final. This year was a complete disaster with very few shining lights. Unfortunately the last three games signed Wooshas fate - No drive and no passion shown from the bulk of the playing squad. As a few commentators have said, it doesnt take skill to run and chase - something that was lacking in this season. Despite that, Woosha will always be a club legend and can/should hold his head high for wait he has achieved at this club. But time to move on and hopefully its not Vossy...

He's a premiership winning coach, to sack him after an injury ravaged season is incredibly harsh.

We have had three seasons in a row with injuries to key players but made finals the previous two season - maybe this year took its toll... For some reason they just looked flat all season and just had not desire and the game plan was either ineffective or was not able to be executed correctly either way something had to change. For a team most had as a top team this season to not make the finals, something had to happen...

Also didn't help Gaff and Shuey had a pretty poor years and struggled to deal with the added attention from opposing teams. Le Cras had a pretty unsteady year as well, coming off major knee surgery and then breaking his arm. Haven't been able to watch as many games this year because I work Sunday afternoon and we always seemed to be playing then, but agree there did seem to be a lack of fight at times. In any case, sad to leave Woosha leave.

Scott Burns would have to be a decent shout surely, from what I hear he's pretty highly rated as an assistant.

So good to see the Tigers up and about in September, the roar for Newman's goal was unreal.

Go power. That Port game was one of the best games of the year! I'm a bombers fan but Im heading down to Melbourne Friday night just on the off chance they can play like that again, was sensational!

Quote:WITNESS APPEAL - RICHMOND ALTERCATIONhttp://www.vicpolicenews.com.au/news/1353-witness-appeal---richmond-altercation.htmlPolice are appealing for witnesses after an altercation between a group of men near Richmond Railway Station last night. It is believed the fight took place between four men on Stuart Street about 8pm. Two of the men, who were wearing Carlton Football Club clothing, were knocked unconscious during the altercation. The pair, a 34-year-old Heathmont man and a 31-year-old Heidelberg man, were taken to hospital and treated for broken noses. Public Order Response Team members attended the scene and spoke to a 25-year-old Chelsea man and a 26-year-old Clayton man. The Clayton man was wearing Richmond Football Club clothing. Both men have been released pending further enquiries. Investigators believe a number of people may have witnessed the altercation and are currently reviewing CCTV footage in the area. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppers.com.auKelly Yates Media Officer VP29601/2013 Edited by imonfourfourtwo: 9/9/2013 06:30:04 PM

I've just updated the Fox sports ratings. In relation to the AFL finals specifically, including FTA, this is a summary of the weekend:

So for the first weeks of finals, 4 games, that's a total of 4.6 million in ratings (Fox plus FTA 5 city metro).

Quote:Why not front page news? Can't remember any a league "riots" requiring hospitalisation. The A-League "riots" to which you refer usually took place at the games themselves, while this event took place at the station and although there victims were wearing Carlton memorabilia there is no evidence that the assailants were football-related.

You're wrong, the bulk of those ratings are FTA, and they are AFL specific.

Pet memberships  In all seriousness, I don't know that record memberships are necessarily a good thing. I mean look at GWS - the reported membership count goes up by ~2,500 and the average attendance drops by nearly 1,000. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greater_Western_Sydney_Football_Club#Support If this sort of inverse relationship between (reported) membership numbers and the number of people who actually attend matches keeps going, pretty soon GWS will be trying not to get new members, otherwise there will be no-one at the games.
