+xTemp seating at Morsehead for a guaranteed 4 games or whatever a season would be incredible. And really worthwhile and justifiable you'd reckon. Maybe their hands are tied, more likely WU lack the broad, wider support or maybe Lou Sticca just loves the idea of football on ovals. Yeah they really need to be pressed on that justification. Could likely be the FFA blocking it.

+x+x+x+x+xdoes anyone on this forum plan on supporting this team? Yeah me. Oh and about 10 others I know. So at least we have enough people to actually form a team lol Lol I know of a few more but didn't want to upset city supporters so they still have 3 more supporters atm. Oof, rivalry kicking off already, gonna make the old firm look like playschool

+x+x+xPS yes, I came away feeling this club may have better support than we expected, was pretty good for a Monday night in Geelong. Fingers crossed anyway, but the night was professionally run overall. Already have seen a few Adelaide United fans change over to them. lol, never. Nice troll but.. Good thing is there will be a natural synergy between these two clubs. As the game gets bigger and the league gets bigger and the clubs get bigger.. Melbourne to Adelaide is a long way still but really there's only an arbitrary line that separates SE S.A. & Western Vic. A club representing what's West of Melbourne is a cool thing I reckon, I'm glad they've come along. Not trolling but when I mean a few I mean people I know or have seen at Hindmarsh.

Could be, but extra lights can be hired, for those that can be arsed. The lighting towers look pretty beefy from what I can remember of Morsehead, perhaps designed to add more lights, maybe not. Or just have daytime games there. Heat certainly won't be a problem in Ballarat lol

Who in their right mind would jump ship from Adelaide to these guys? you be surprised. Yeah I am surprised. I didn’t realise we had so many plastics ready to jump ship, especially to a Victorian side.

(Except for when they show the snow resort towns during the snow season, but it's their job to be cold!)

Lived there for uni for 3 years would always prefer to travel home (geelong) or Melbourne when it was hot, i even got strung into playing cricket one year and it fucking sucked it was too hot... i lived in dubbo before moving to geelong and would rather bake in the sun there.

Ballarat is getting a lot of bushfires around it in the Summer these days. On the bad hot windy days ABC Central Vic seem to increasingly be playing their air raid siren over the airwaves and reporting on out of control fires around Ballarat. That can't be helping the ambient temperature. Realistically though, Ballarat and Dubbo are always going to feel hotter in the Summer without that seabreeze.

+xisn't ballarat sitting on a crater or something? hence why its colder in winter and the heat hangs around in summer? Far enough inland to have a true continental climate. Big cold ocean to the south, desert to the north. According to where the air is coming from, there are always going to be extremes at either end of the temp spectrum.

I've only been there once and it was 43 and, yep, fires everywhere.

I have become totally time poor over the last few years and have only bothered to go along to one City game over the last two seasons. Having a few matches in Ballarat in a game changer! I'll be heading along to the session next week, although the idea of jumping ship again just makes me feel so plastic. But then, if I want to see professional football in Ballarat do I have a choice?

Perhaps a good argument for why regional bids should be encouraged to enter the NSD.

I'm ok with people moving if it's to a club that hasn't previously existed and they are more local. Having said that being from Geelong i couldn't even consider changing to WU from Victory. However i never understand how victory supporters moved to city... i never made any sense. Either they didn't take it seriously or never supported victory anyway.

My only real concern though is what happens when Tarneit is up and running. It's hard to see them playing more than two or three games between Ballarat and Geelong when the new stadium is built. I can see Geelong fans getting on board, but Tarneit isn't really the easiest place to get to from Ballarat just to attend a football match. At least when I used to go to Melbourne I could drop the girlfriend off at the DFO.

was there any indication from the forum that the wider football staff has been hired? Physio, Strength Coach, Analyst, Kitman
I know that Murdocca is sports scientist, not sure if that will encompass the stregnth and conditioning role and that there is a operations manager in place

If you're driving at least you wouldn't be dealing with the Westgate in the evening, but yeah going by train from Ballarat you may as well stick with a team based in the centre.

I went out and saw the new City Vista Sporting complex (Fraser Rise) on the weekend and it’s certainly an impressive facility. 2 grass fields and 2 synthetic fields and a nice clubrooms set up also. WU signed on for 2 years from what I had heard, so hopefully it goes well.

WU won't be building a $150 million stadium in Tarneit for them to play 1-2 games in Geelong or Ballarat after it opens. They will play all games at Tarneit Stadium (unless they grow at a rate that no one expects). As for travelling there form Ballarat... it looks piss easy to me. If you drive, you catch the Western Freeway and turn off at Rockbank down Hopkins Rd. If you decide to get the train, you get off at Sunshine (or possibly Deer Park) and change for Tarneit.
